To make this image, I moved back and forth between iColorama and Metabrush. I prepped the image in iColorama, painted on texture in Metabrush, reshaped the head and features in iColorama and Elasticam, painted on more texture and color in Metabrush, blended two different versions in iColorama, toned and finished in iColorama, amd made a final tweak to the features in Elasticam.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, a source of copyright-free images.
First I prepped the image. I opened the photo in iColorama. I used Adjust/EQ, and Adjust/EQ2 for tonal separation. I used Effect/Denoise Smooth preset, and Effect/Glow at low opacity, for smoothness. I used Form/Crop to crop the image from the left.
I opened the image in Metabrush and painted over it (except for the hair) using Brushes/Tex3.
I painted the background with CLR4 and CLR3. I painted the hair with ART3. I saved to my camera roll.
I opened the image in iColorama. I used Form/Warp to modify the shape of the face. Then I used the Elasticam app to modify the eyes.
In iColorama, I used Brush/Paint to paint pupils and catchlights onto the eyes.
I opened the image in Metabrush and I repainted the hair and painted the eyes with ART3.
Still in Metabrush, I used Brushes/Paint to paint color onto the face. I saved to my camera roll.
In iColorama, using Effect/Blend, I blended the painted version onto the previous version. I used one of the negative blending modes (Difference, Negation, Exclusion). I experimented with all the sliders, including the sliders under Set. Then I used Effect/Raise to emphasize the brush strokes.
I used Tone/Duotone in Multiply mode at low opacity, to tone the shadows. I opened the image in MetaBrushand on a new layer I painted with Wets/Wet with long vertical strokes, and with Plane on the eyes; then I reduced the layer opacity.
I opened the image in iColorama. I used Effect/Light to add highlights.
I used Adjust/Levels for contrast.
I altered the features in Elasticam.
