Seeing what is under the skin has been a theme of mine. This image suggest layers of skin beneath the skin, like layers of an onion. Hence the title Peeling Away.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, which is a source of copyright-free images.
In iColorama, I processed the image using Adjust/EQ preset 3 and Adjust/Tonelab preset 1 for clarity and depth. I used Adjust/Vibrance to bring out the red in her lips cheeks. I used Adjust/Levels to add contrast. I used Style/Coherence and Style/Flow for smoothness. I made all these adjustments at low opacity. Call this Image A.
Here I used Style/Stamp. I like to use the slider to get a big size. (Experiment with the different patterns that are in the presets, and you can even use your own image using the Photo button). Call this Image B.
Going back to Image A, I then applied Style/Tensor preset 5 with image B. I set the Amount slider to maximum, and I used low to medium opacity.
In Effect/Blend, I blended back a bit of Image A and used the gray slider in Set. I then applied Adjust/Tonelab, Style/Coherence, Style/Flow, and Effect/Sharpen, to taste.
I used Form/Warp to dramatically alter the shape, size and expression of her face.
This is the final image after more flow, coherence, sharpen etc.
Now for another version: Same starting image, same process as above: but with a different Stamp preset, and this time I used Brush/Abstract Brush on her hair, which produced the curls.
Still another version: I applied Style/Triangle and then used Style/Tensor preset 5 with this satin image of Teresita's.
Here is the result.
