This image is one of many in which I experimented with distorting different textures and patterns over a face. When using iColorama's Effect/Distort to do this, it is important to do some smoothing to the face first. This image combines intense color with jungle-like patterns for dramatic effect.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, a source of copyright-free images. I like the shape of her, and the fact that there is no loose hair, which will make it nicer to drape an effect over her.
I used Adjust/High preset 2 for a touch of sharpness, and Style/Coherence preset 1 for smoothness. It is always good to make a smooth image in preparation for distoring another image over it.
I used Tone/Tint preset 1 to add some dramatic color to the image.
Here I used Style/Stamp (try the different presets, or you can even stamp with your another image if you touch the Photo button). Then I blended the stamped image with the tinted image. I used the Multipy blending mode, and I used the "Gray" slider in Set. The Gray slider is what gives you the layered effect of patterns and color.
I used Adjust/Levels for a bit more contrast, and I used Style/Coherence and Style/Flow for smoothness.
For a final touch, I use a bit of Effect/Raise preset 1.
In this version I used Raise 2 instead of Raise 1.
In this version, I used Raise 3 instead of Raise 1. You can get quite a leathery texture.
In this version, I used Raise 7 instead of Raise 1.
