It was autumn, and fallen leaves were everywhere. I saw these yellow leaves against a gravel background, and took the picture. I blended with an image of a girl to give the illusion of looking through into a life beyond.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, which is a source of copyright-free images. I like her straightforward gaze and the interesting shape of her face.
I processed her in iColorama for tone, smoothness, to fix the eyes, and to warp it. I warped her to increase the size of her eyes and forehead, for a more open expression.
I took this photo with my iPhone 7 Plus.
In Effects/Blend, I blended the Leaves image onto the girl.
I cropped in Form/Crop. I enhanced the color and tone in Tone/Enhance and Adjust/Tonelab.
I used a brush mask to protect the Leaves, and applied Style/Sketch preset 4 and Tone/B&W to the background. I used another brush mask and made the bottom leaf match the color and tone of the first, using Tone/Enhance and Adjust/Tonelab.
I darkened the background using Adjust/Levels, for the final image.
