Here I create a hollow figure with a metallic mesh frame. I imagined that this frame was a prison for a soul contained within, as represented by lonely eyes peering out where the face would have been.
To build the metallic mesh, I started with this image, which is one of the textures in Texture/Metal in iColorama. To make the file, I opened a blank canvas in iColorama, then applied this texture, and then saved the file.
Now I used this image, which is based on another texture in Texture/Metal in iColorama. As above, to create this image, I opened a blank canvas in iColorama, applied this texture, and saved the file. Then I tinted it in Tone/Tint.
Next I opened the file with the blue texture in iColorama, and selected Effect/Distort. I touched the Photo icon at the bottom right of the screen, and brought in the file with the tinted metallic texture. This has the effect of distorting it over the blue balls. I used Multiply mode.
Now I will bring in an image that I created from this photo from the Rijksmuseum website, which provides high-resolution images free to use and modify for any purpose, in their Rijksstudio.
I cropped as much of the frame away as I could. Then I used Form/Warp to drag the remaining parts of the frame off the canvas. I continued to use Form/Warp to transform the shape of the woman into one what seemed to me livelier and more interesting. Then I smoothed using Style/Coherence and Style/Flow, and I used Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 as well as Tone/Enhance for depth and color, and Adjust/High for highlights and sharpness.
Next I used Effect/Distort to distort this lady over the metallic mesh I had created. I used multiply as the blending mode. I tried different positions of the Distort slider, and I used my fingers to reposition the lady for best effect. Then, using Effect/Blend, I blended in the eyes from the lady. Then I used Style/Coherence and Style/Flow to smooth (usually necessary after using Effect/Distort). I used Adjust/Tonelab and Tone/Enhance to get the contrast and color I wanted, and I used Adjust/High for highlights and sharpness. To get the milky drops of liquid floating around her, I used Effect/Raise preset 9.
