This image is all about texture. Several textures created in Metabrush were applied to different parts of the image. The image gets its haunting quality from the deformation of the face using features of iColorama.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, a source of copyright-free images.
I opened the photo in iColorama and used Effect/Denoise Smooth preset and Effect/Glow at low opacity, to smooth the image.
I created this texture in MetaBrush. I used Brushes/Paint mode, using a medium-sized Gradient brush at partial opacity. In brush settings, I set spacing to its maximum value, I set position variance and rotation variance to their maximum values, and I left dynamics and extras at their default values.
In the MetaBrush step, I used this Pixabay photo as brush image. (While in Brushes/Paint, to choose the brush image, touch the flower icon on the left edge of the screen and select an image from your camera roll.)
In iColorama, I used Effect/Blend to blend the texture onto the face. I used a brush mask so that the effect is confined only to the face and does not affect the eyes or the background.
I created this texture in MetaBrush. I used Brushes/Paint mode, using a medium-sized triangular brush at 100% opacity. In brush settings, I set spacing to its maximum value, I set position variance and rotation variance to their maximum values, and I left dynamics and extras at their default values.
In the above MetaBrush step, I used this Pixabay photo as brush image.
In iColorama, I used Tone/Enhance to modify the color of the face, and I used Effect/Glow at low opacity to add a shine to the face. Then I used Effect/Blend to blend the Metabrush texture onto the image. I used a brush mask to confine the texture to the background and eyes, and so that it would not affect the face.
I applied Preset/Shift2 preset 6/40 at medium opacity, with a secondary photo (to use a secondary photo, touch the photo icon at the lower right of the screen, and choose a photo from the camera roll). I used the sliders, including the sliders under Set, to get an effect I liked and to position the effect where I wanted it.
This is the image I used as the secondary photo in the Shift2 step, above. I created it in Metabrush similarly to how I created the similar texture image above, but using a larger brush.
In iColorama, I used Form/Warp to transform the shape of the face.
I applied two different presets in Form/Deforms, the second one at partial opacity.
For a final touch, a used Effect/Raise and Effect/Sharpen to bring out the textures.
