I used Metabrush for a soft texture of soap bubbles, and I simplified and used a water effect on the figure to create this soft image.
I started with this photo from the Sktchy app. Because Sktchy photos are very small, I Upsized it twice in BigPhoto. I like the simplicity of it: there is little distracting background, and there are good shapes in the features and hair. Sktchy photos are small, so I upsized it twice using BigPhoto.
In iColorama, I used Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 for tonal separation, Adjust/Levels to lighten the image, and Tone/High at low sharpness to emphasize the highlights. The image is grainy and pixelated, which you can really see after making these tonal adjustments. We will fix that by completely writing over the image with new pixels.
Using preset 4 in Effect/ Simplify not only nicely simplifies the image, but almost completely rewrites the image.
I painted this image in Metabrush. I opened a blank white canvas, selected a mustard color from the color picker (the solid circle at the top left of the screen), and I used the white paint bucket in the layers palette to cover the layer with that color. Then I created a new layer, selected Paint mode from the menus at the top left of the screen, selected the Eraser (next to the brush) from the toolbar at the top right of the screen, and painted with the eraser over the layer. I used a large Soap brush with 80%-90% opacity. In brush settings, I used spacing at the maximum, Position Variance and Rotation Variance both at the maximum, and Structure and Shadow both at the minumum. Rotation dynamics were set to zero (middle), size dymanics at 0.77, and opacity dynamics at 0.59
In iColorama, I blended the soap bubbles image onto the woman in Effect/Blend. I tried several blending modes and slider settings. Then I lightened the image using Adjust/Levels.
I used Adjust/High preset 2 for a bit of definition.
I used Style/Water preset 9 to create this softened image that I will use for blending.
In Effect/Blend, I blended the Water image over the previous image. I tried several blending modes and slider settings.
I used Brush/Shatter to paint over the image. Find a brush you like.
I used Effect/Raise preset 1 at low size. I used a brush mask around the outside of the image, so that the effect would apply only to the figure.
As a final touch, I used Preset/Border preset 2 at low opacity and low to medium radius, with a mask to protect the face. This gives a slight vignetting effect, which helps to put focus on the face.
