I started this as a SketchBook painting of a woman. Then I used iColorama to to blend in the second woman. I used SketchBook to paint handlebars and then used iColorama to blend the handlebars onto each of the women. Then I imported the image into SketchBook and painted hands onto the handlebars. Then in iColorama I made the shiny surface and the appearance of depth.
I opened a blank canvas in SketchBook. I used the tattoo inker in a small and the pen tool size to sketch the outlines of a woman. Then on a new layer below the sketch layer, I used the tattoo inker to color her dress. Then on a new layer below the dress layer, I used the airbrush to color her skin.
On a new layer above the skin layer, I painted her features.
On new layers above the skin layer, I used the tattoo inker to color her hair and hat.
On new layers above all these layers, I used an airbrush to add highlights and shadows. I exported the image to my camera roll.
I opened the image in iColorama. I used Effect/Blend to blend the image with itself, flipping the top image on its x-axis, and using my fingers to reposition and resize the top image. I used the Multiply blending mode and tried all the sliders. I used a brush mask so I could leave out portions of the top image from the blend.
I used Tone/Enhance to alter the colors, to get the dress and hat colors to ones I want to keep.
I used Adjust/Hue with a brush mask to make the hat of the woman on the right blue.
This is the brush mask for the hat of the woman on the right.
Then I used Adjust/Hue, with a brush mask, to make the dress of the woman on the left green.
This is the brush mask for the dress of the woman on the left.
Then I used Tone/Enhance to alter the colors. I saved this to my camera roll.
Now I opened a blank canvas in SketchBook. I used the pen tool to draw the outlines of bicycle handlebars. Then on a new layer below that, I used the tattoo inker to color the handlebars with gray and green. Then on a layer above that but below the outline layer, I used an airbrush to paint highlights and shadows onto the handlebars. I saved this to my camera roll.
In iColorama, I blended the handlebars onto my image of the women. I used Multiply blending mode. I used one end of the gray slider under Set to cut out the white area of the handlebars image. This way I didn't have to do any masking.
I again used Effect/Blend to blend the handlebars image onto my image, this time rotating it and using an inverted brush mask to paint a vertical bar to support the handlebars. I saved the image to my camera roll.
I opened the image in SketchBook. On a new layer above the image, I used the pen tool to draw hands for the woman on the left. Then on a new layer just below the pen layer, I used the airbrush to paint in flesh tones for the hands, using the color picker to match the color with the work in progress. Then on a new layer just above the layer on which I airbrushed skin tones for the hands, I used the airbrush to paint shadows onto the hands, again using the color picker to match the color with the work in progress.
Finally, I a new layer just above the layer onto which I had imported the work in progress, I used the tattoo inker to paint the yellow background color over the arms sections of the woman on the left, that extended beyond the hands. I saved the image to my camera roll.
I opened the image in iColorama. I again used Effect/Blend to blend the handlebars image onto my image, this time flipping it on the x axis and rotating and resizing and repositioning it, and using an inverted brush mask, to paint handlebars for the woman on the right.
I used Effect/Blend to blend the image with itself, flipping it on its x-axis. I positioned one of the hands over the handlebars of the woman on the right, and I used an inverted brush mask to paint a hand grasping the handlebars for the woman on the right.
I used Style/Flat preset 18, trying all the slider settings. This is how I got the glassy effect as well as the shadows that look like drop shadows.
Because Flat can leave rough edges, and I want to smooth the image generally in preparation for using Effect/Raise, I used Style/Flow preset 1 at low opacity and Effect/Denoise presets 1, 2, and 4, to smooth the edges and tones. Then I used Effect /Raise Preset 1 at medium opacity.
Because using Style/Flat 18 left me with a somewhat dark image, I used Adjust/High preset 1 at medium opacity. This has the effect of brightening the lighter parts of the image as well as providing a bit of sharpening.
