I painted a seascape in Metabrush, and made two different versions. One of the versions captured the movement of the water, and the other captured the texture of the rocks and trees. I used iColorama to blend the water from one version over the other version. I made finishing touches to tone, color and sharpness in iColorama.
I started with this photo of mine that I had previously edited in Lightroom and iColorama for tone, exposure and smoothness.
I opened the image in Metabrush and created a duplicate layer. I selected Brushes/Textured. In brush settings I reset the default settings. Then I painted with a small brush all over the image, keeping the direction of my strokes consistent with the area of the subject I was painting. I saved to my camera roll.
I made another duplicate layer. I selected Brushes/1Color2. In brush settings, I reset the default settings. I painted all over the image with a small brush, keeping the direction of my strokes consistent with the area of the subject I was painting. I saved to my camera roll.
In iColorama, I used Effect/Blend to blend the two MetaBrush images using a brush mask to use the water from the 1Color2 version and everything else from the Textured version.
In iColorama, I used Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 at low opacity for a bit of tonal separation, Adjust/EQ2 for tone and sharpness, Adjust/Levels for increased contrast, and Tone for color adjustment. I used Effect/Sharpen with a brush mask to apply the sharpening only to the foreground rocks.
