Biography

Siwoong Park (Member, IEEE) received the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Gwangju, South Korea, in 2016 and 2024, respectively. Since March 2026, he has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronic Engineering, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), Jeonju, South Korea. From 2016 to February 2026, he was a Senior Researcher with the Optical ICT Convergence Research Section, Honam Research Division, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Gwangju, South Korea, where he conducted research on advanced optical wireless communication systems and related technologies. His research interests include free-space optical communications (FSOC), optical wireless communications (OWC), MIMO-FSO systems, massive MIMO, inter-satellite links (ISLs), wired and wireless communications, optical sensors, and applied optics. In addition, Prof. Park has actively served as a reviewer for several international journals, including the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Access, IEEE Photonics Journal, Optics Express, Optics Letters, and Applied Optics.
