FAQ:
Q: Does the app require internet access?
A: No. The app runs entirely on your system, utilizing Apple's M1 cores. Due to this however, you will have to download the languages from your system in Apple settings.
Q: How do you take a photo?
A: First, click the "Take Photo" button. Then, click the white circle at the bottom when you are ready to take the photo.
Q: In the translator widget, what does the "show defns" do?
A: The "show defns" currently only works if you are translating from Chinese. It searches in a Chinese dictionary and attempts to retrieve the dictionary definition.
Q: In the translator widget, what is the difference between "By character" and "By Line"?Â
A: By character simply translates every character (useful if you are translating from chinese). By line simply translates all texts separated by spaces (lines in chinese, words in english)
Q: How do you select languages to use?
A: In the top left corner, there will be a button labeled "EN". Upon clicking it, you will see a menu where you can choose which languages to pick from. Swipe down to go back.
Q: How can I save the photos that I take or the documents that I scan as pdf documents?
A: For photos that you take, You can click the "done" button and the "save" button afterwards, and you will soon be able to save and share a text document that the OCR built. For scanned documents, you simply wait after pressing "save" and it will quickly convert your scanned document to pdf.
Q: How do you translate text in the translator widget?
A: You translate the text by clicking the yellow rectangle that surrounds the text you want to translate. The popup will show the pronunciation and translated definition. To exit the popup, simply click outside of the popup.
