Privacy Policy for Step Time

Step Time is a walking app that turns the steps you take into screen time for the apps you choose to block. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version: Step Time has no servers, no account, and no analytics. Everything the app records stays on your iPhone. We cannot see your steps, your measurements, or which apps you block, because none of it is ever sent anywhere.
1. Information stored on your device Step Time keeps the following on your iPhone so the app can work between launches:
Your step counts: Today's total and a history of past days and months, used for the Today screen and the charts on the Stats screen.
Screen time: Time you have earned, used, and have left over.
Your settings: Daily step goal, screen time earned per step, and whether you prefer metric or imperial units.
Height and weight: If you choose to enter them. These are optional and are used only to estimate distance and calories on your device.
Your choice of apps to block: Stored as the opaque tokens Apple's Screen Time framework provides. Step Time is not told the names of the apps you pick and cannot read them.
Housekeeping values: Such as how many times the app has been opened.
This information is held in the app's own storage area (an iOS App Group shared between Step Time and its Screen Time extensions). It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else.
2. Information we collect None. Step Time does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information.
The app has no user accounts, no login, and no server of its own. It contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking software, and no third-party SDKs. It does not need an internet connection to work.
3. Permissions the app asks for
Motion & Fitness: Step Time uses Apple's Core Motion framework to access the step count your iPhone already records. This is how the app knows you have walked. Step data is read on the device and stays there. If you decline this permission, or turn off Fitness Tracking in iOS Settings, the app cannot count steps.
Screen Time (Family Controls): Step Time uses Apple's Screen Time framework to show you a list of apps, to place a block screen over the apps you select, and to remove it when your allocation of earned time has been used up. Apple's framework is designed so that the app cannot see the specific apps you chose: your selection is handled by iOS and given to Step Time only as anonymous tokens. Your app usage is not reported to us.
You can review or withdraw either permission in the iOS Settings app.
4. Health data Step Time does not use HealthKit and does not read from or write to the Apple Health app. The step counts it shows come directly from your iPhone's motion sensor.
5. Children's privacy Step Time does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no information leaves the device, there is nothing for us to collect, store, or disclose. If a child uses the app, their steps and settings remain on their own device.
6. Links and features that leave the app Two features open something outside Step Time:
"Send feedback" opens your email app with our support address. If you choose to write to us, we will see your email address and whatever you tell us, and we use it only to answer you.
Links to this privacy policy and to the terms of use open your web browser. Those pages are hosted by Google Sites and are subject to Google's own privacy practices.
7. Data retention and deletion Because your information never leaves your iPhone, you control it completely. Deleting Step Time removes everything the app has stored, including your settings, step counts, and your block list. There is no copy anywhere else for us to delete.
8. Security Your data is protected by the security of your iPhone, including the device passcode and iOS file protection. Since nothing is transmitted over a network, there is no transfer to intercept.
9. Changes to this policy We may update this policy if the app changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Step Time after a change means you accept the updated policy.
