1. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE

Code Connect Technologies ("Code Connect Technologies," "we," "us," or "our") operates Duo Speak – AI Language Learning ("Duo Speak," the "App," or the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains how Duo Speak collects, processes, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the App on Apple iPhone and iPad devices.

Duo Speak is a language-learning application that provides AI-powered language practice and translation features, including AI Tutor, AI conversation practice, speech recognition, vocabulary and dictionary tools, phrasebook features, and translation functionality.

By downloading, installing, or using Duo Speak, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

2. OUR PRIVACY COMMITMENTS

Duo Speak is designed with the following privacy principles:

Transparency

We explain what information Duo Speak processes, why it is processed, and which third-party services may receive information.

Data Minimization

We aim to process only the information reasonably necessary to provide the features you choose to use.

No Background Microphone Access

Duo Speak does not access your microphone in the background. Microphone access occurs when you actively use a feature requiring voice input.

No Raw Voice Upload to Google Gemini

When using the speech-recognition flow described in this Privacy Policy, your spoken audio is converted into text using Apple's speech-recognition functionality. The resulting text transcript may then be sent to Google Gemini. Duo Speak does not send the original microphone audio to Google Gemini through this flow.

Local Learning Data

Where supported by the current version of the App, learning preferences, session history, and related learning information may be stored locally on your device.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through Duo Speak.

3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND PROCESS

The information processed by Duo Speak depends on the features you use.

A. Voice Input

When you actively use a voice-enabled feature, such as AI Tutor or Voice Translator, Duo Speak may access the microphone after you grant microphone permission.

Your spoken words may be temporarily held in memory and processed through Apple's speech-recognition functionality to convert speech into text.

Duo Speak does not intentionally save raw voice recordings as permanent audio files on its servers.

B. Speech Transcripts and Text Prompts

When you speak to Duo Speak, Apple's speech-recognition functionality may convert your speech into text.

The resulting transcript may be used as your AI prompt.

You may also directly enter text into AI-powered features.

This information may include:

Words
Phrases
Questions
Conversation messages
Language-learning exercises
Grammar questions
Translation requests
Other content that you voluntarily submit

C. Conversation Context

To provide coherent AI conversations, Duo Speak may include relevant recent conversation turns with your current prompt.

This allows the AI Tutor to understand the context of the conversation and provide more relevant responses and feedback.

D. Learning Preferences and Local Data

Depending on the features you use, Duo Speak may store learning information locally on your device, including:

Greeting name
Native language
Target language
Learning level
Daily practice goals
Tutor preferences
Speech speed preferences
Audio pitch preferences
Response-length preferences
Learning streaks
Practice activity
Session history
Other learning-related settings

Where supported, this information is stored locally on your Apple device.

E. Firebase Analytics

Duo Speak may use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the App and to help us improve functionality.

Depending on the Firebase configuration, this may include information such as:

Device model
Operating system version
App version
System language
Device locale
Screen information
Network connection type
App events
Screens viewed
Feature usage
Onboarding events
Session start and end information

Duo Speak does not intentionally send the content of your AI conversations as ordinary analytics event data.

F. Firebase Crashlytics

Duo Speak may use Firebase Crashlytics to identify and resolve crashes and technical problems.

Crash-related information may include:

Operating system information
App version
Crash stack traces
Non-fatal errors
Technical diagnostics
Information about the application state at the time of a crash

Crashlytics is used to improve application stability and reliability.

G. Firebase Remote Config

Duo Speak may use Firebase Remote Config to remotely manage certain application configuration and feature parameters.

Remote Config is not intended to store your AI conversation history.

4. SPEECH, MICROPHONE, AND AI DATA FLOW

To provide transparency about how voice-based AI features work, the general processing flow is:

Microphone → Apple Speech Recognition → Text Transcript → Google Gemini → AI Response

Step 1 — Microphone

When you actively use a voice feature, Duo Speak captures your spoken input after you have granted microphone permission.

Step 2 — Apple Speech Recognition

Duo Speak uses Apple's speech-recognition functionality to convert your spoken input into text.

Depending on Apple's technology, device, language, and configuration, speech recognition may occur on the device or may involve Apple's speech-recognition services.

Apple's handling of speech-recognition data is governed by Apple's applicable privacy policies.

Step 3 — Text Transcript

The speech-recognition result becomes a text transcript.

Step 4 — Google Gemini

For features requiring AI processing, the text transcript may be transmitted to Google Gemini, a third-party AI service provided by Google.

The request may include:

Text typed by you
Relevant conversation context
Tutor instructions necessary to provide the requested response

Step 5 — AI Response

Google Gemini generates the requested AI response, such as:

Language-learning feedback
Conversation responses
Corrections
Explanations
Translations
Vocabulary assistance

The response is returned to Duo Speak.

Step 6 — Local Voice Output

Where Duo Speak provides spoken AI responses, the response text may be converted into speech on the device using Apple's speech-synthesis functionality.

Duo Speak does not send your original microphone recording to Google Gemini through this speech-recognition flow.

5. GOOGLE GEMINI AND THIRD-PARTY AI PROCESSING

Duo Speak uses Google Gemini through Google's/Firebase's supported AI infrastructure for certain AI-powered features.

Google Gemini is a third-party AI service provided by Google.

When you use an AI feature that requires Gemini processing, the information necessary to provide that feature may be sent to Google.

This may include:

Text you type
Speech transcripts generated from your voice input
Conversation messages
Relevant recent conversation context
Language-learning prompts
Translation requests
Other text necessary to generate the requested AI response

Duo Speak does not send the original microphone audio to Google Gemini through the speech-recognition flow described above.

The processing of information by Google is subject to the applicable Google terms, privacy documentation, and the specific Gemini API/Firebase configuration used by the App.

For additional information about Google's handling of data in Firebase AI services, please refer to Google's applicable privacy and data-governance documentation.

6. AI DATA SHARING CONSENT

Duo Speak provides an in-app disclosure for AI-powered features that explains that information submitted to those features may be shared with Google Gemini for processing.

The disclosure identifies:

The purpose of the processing
That the information is used to generate the requested AI response or translation

Where required, Duo Speak obtains your permission before transmitting applicable information to Google Gemini.

If you do not grant permission, AI features requiring Gemini processing may not be available.

Features that do not require this AI processing may remain available.

Apple's App Review Guidelines require apps to clearly disclose sharing of personal data with third parties, including third-party AI, and obtain explicit permission before such sharing.

7. TRANSLATION FEATURES

Duo Speak may provide translation features including:

Voice Translation
Conversation Translation
Text Translation
Camera Translation
Document Translation
AI-powered translation

The information required to provide a translation may be processed by the applicable technology or third-party service.

For AI-powered translation features, submitted text may be processed by Google Gemini.

You should avoid submitting highly sensitive or confidential information unless you are comfortable with the processing described in this Privacy Policy.

8. CAMERA AND IMAGE PROCESSING

If and when a Duo Speak feature requires camera access, the App will request the applicable iOS camera permission.

Camera access is used only when you actively choose a feature requiring the camera.

Duo Speak does not access your camera in the background.

If an image or extracted text is submitted to a translation or AI service, the applicable information may be transmitted to that service to provide the requested functionality.

If a feature does not currently use the device camera in a particular version of the App, no camera data is collected through that feature.

9. DOCUMENT PROCESSING

Duo Speak may provide document translation functionality.

If you submit a document for processing, information contained in the document may be processed to provide the requested translation.

Where an AI-powered service is used, applicable text or content may be transmitted to Google Gemini or another service necessary to provide the requested functionality.

You should not submit confidential or highly sensitive documents unless you are comfortable with their processing by the applicable services.

10. LOCAL NOTIFICATIONS

Duo Speak may request permission to send local notifications.

Notifications may be used for:

Learning reminders
Practice reminders
Streak reminders
App-related notifications

Notifications are optional.

You can enable or disable notification permissions at any time through your iOS device settings.

Duo Speak does not require notification permission to use features that do not require notifications.

11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND PROVIDERS

Duo Speak may integrate third-party services to provide and maintain its functionality.

Google LLC — Firebase Analytics

Purpose: Application analytics and usage measurement.

Information: Pseudonymous app/device information and application usage events.

Google LLC — Firebase Crashlytics

Purpose: Crash reporting and technical diagnostics.

Information: Crash information, device information, operating-system information, and technical diagnostics.

Google LLC — Firebase Remote Config

Purpose: Remote configuration and feature parameters.

Information: App and device configuration information required for Remote Config.

Google LLC — Firebase AI / Google Gemini

Purpose: AI-powered language learning, conversation, translation, feedback, and response generation.

Information: Text prompts, speech transcripts, and relevant conversation context submitted through applicable AI features.

Apple Inc. — Speech Recognition and AVFoundation

Purpose: Speech recognition and text-to-speech functionality.

Information: Voice input processed for speech recognition and text generated from speech.

Apple Inc. — StoreKit

Purpose: Subscription purchases, transaction processing, and entitlement verification.

Information: Transaction and subscription information required by Apple.

Third-party providers process information according to their applicable terms, privacy policies, and data-processing agreements.

Code Connect Technologies expects third-party service providers that process information on its behalf to provide protections consistent with applicable privacy requirements and the commitments described in this Privacy Policy.

12. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS

Duo Speak may offer auto-renewable subscriptions through the Apple App Store.

All purchases and subscription transactions are processed through Apple's StoreKit and App Store systems.

Code Connect Technologies does not directly collect or store your complete payment card information.

Apple may process information necessary to:

Verify transactions
Manage subscriptions
Restore purchases
Determine subscription entitlements

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled according to Apple's applicable subscription terms.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple account subscription settings.

For App Store purchase and refund matters, Apple controls the applicable payment and refund process.

13. DATA RETENTION

Code Connect Technologies retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing services, maintaining the App, addressing technical issues, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and protecting our rights.

Local App Data

Information stored locally on your device may remain there until you delete it through available App functionality, clear the relevant data, or delete the App.

AI Requests

Text sent to Google Gemini is processed according to the applicable Google/Firebase AI service and configuration.

Code Connect Technologies does not maintain a separate server-side database of your personal AI conversation history unless a particular feature explicitly states otherwise.

Firebase Analytics

Analytics information may be retained according to the applicable Firebase service configuration and retention settings.

Crash Data

Crash and diagnostic information may be retained according to the applicable Firebase Crashlytics policies and configuration.

Because third-party services have their own data-processing and retention mechanisms, Code Connect Technologies does not represent that every item transmitted to a third-party service is immediately or permanently deleted after processing.

14. DATA DELETION

Where information is stored locally by Duo Speak, deleting the App will generally remove the locally stored application data from the device, subject to Apple's operating-system behavior and any data separately retained by third-party services.

For information processed by third-party services, deletion may also be subject to the applicable provider's policies and technical capabilities.

15. DATA SECURITY

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed through Duo Speak.

Network communications between the App and applicable cloud services are transmitted using encrypted connections such as HTTPS/TLS.

Information stored locally is protected by Apple's iOS security architecture, application sandboxing, and available device-level protections.

However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

16. INTERNATIONAL DATA PROCESSING

Duo Speak uses third-party service providers that may process information in countries other than your country of residence.

For example, Google services may process information through infrastructure located in the United States and other jurisdictions.

Where applicable, international transfers are subject to the safeguards and contractual mechanisms used by the relevant service providers and required by applicable law.

17. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING

Depending on your location and applicable law, we may process information on different legal bases.

For users in jurisdictions such as the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, applicable legal bases may include:

Processing necessary to provide the language-learning and other services requested by you.

Processing based on your permission, including applicable microphone, speech-recognition, and third-party AI data-sharing permissions.

Processing necessary to maintain security, diagnose crashes, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and maintain the App, where permitted by applicable law.

Legal Obligations

Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or lawful requests.

The applicable legal basis depends on the particular processing activity and your jurisdiction.

18. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information.

These may include:

19. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Duo Speak is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of applicable law.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in circumstances where such collection is not permitted, we will take reasonable steps to address and delete the information as required.

For users covered by applicable California privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, Code Connect Technologies provides applicable privacy rights described by those laws.

We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through third-party advertising networks in Duo Speak where the App does not contain such advertising functionality.

Where applicable, users may request information about the categories of personal information collected, used, or disclosed and may exercise applicable rights of access, correction, deletion, or other rights provided by law.

21. NO ADVERTISING OR CROSS-APP TRACKING

Duo Speak does not use third-party advertising networks in the current iOS production configuration described by this Privacy Policy.

Duo Speak does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission for cross-app tracking where such tracking is not used.

Duo Speak does not use the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) for cross-app tracking.

If our data practices change in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the applicable App Store privacy disclosures will be updated accordingly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:
