About
Curriculum Vitae - Research Statement
Hello, my name is Ioannis Tsokanos and I am a mathematician coming from Greece. Currently, I hold a postdoctoral position at the Paulista State University (Universidade Estadual Paulista), Brazil, under the mentorship of Prof. Ali Messaoudi.
In June 2022, I received my PhD from the University of Manchester under the supervision of Prof. Faustin Adiceam.
Thesis: On some Topics on the Irregularity of Distribution pertaining to Combinatorics and Geometric Discrepancy
In the academic year 2022-2023, I was a research associate at the same university under the mentorship of Dr. Vandita Patel.
My research interests surround Number Theory and expand to the fields of ergodic theory, convex geometry & lattice theory, probability theory, and fractal geometry.
Motivated by the Danzer Problem from 1965, the fields I worked mostly on during my PhD are Diophantine Approximations, the theory of irregularity of distributions, and their intersections with geometry (convex, discrete, combinatorial).

Who am I?
Born in beautiful Patras, Greece. I like sports and every kind of competitive activity for the sake of focusing on your best self. Mostly, I enjoy practicing martial arts. In particular, I am a Tae Kwon Do athlete since 2004 and I am counting fifteen national distinctions. One of my most important athletic moments is this one, where I am fighting against the gold medalist of Olympic Games "Rio 2016". During March 2018 I traveled for 2 weeks around Europe using an interrail pass, starting from Greece and reaching as far as Scotland.
