About me
Curriculum Vitae - Research Statement
Hello, my name is Ioannis Tsokanos and I am a mathematician coming from Greece. Currently, I hold a postdoctoral position at the Paulista State University (Universidade Estadual Paulista), Brazil, under the mentorship of Prof. Ali Messaoudi.
In June 2022, I received my PhD from the University of Manchester under the supervision of Prof. Faustin Adiceam.
Thesis: On some Topics on the Irregularity of Distribution pertaining to Combinatorics and Geometric Discrepancy
In the academic year 2022-2023, I was a research associate at the same university under the mentorship of Dr. Vandita Patel.
The main focus of my research has been on Diophantine approximation and dynamical systems: not only in the theory but also in their connections with problems from convex geometry and stochastic processes. The mathematical tools I have used and developed so far exploit ideas from various fields including the theory of Continued Fractions & the Irregularity of Distribution, Discrete & Combinatorial Geometry, Probability Theory, and Operator Theory.

Who am I?
Born in beautiful Patras, Greece. I like sports and every kind of competitive activity for the sake of focusing on your best self. Mostly, I enjoy practicing martial arts. In particular, I am a Tae Kwon Do athlete since 2004 and I am counting fifteen national distinctions. One of my most important athletic moments is this one, where I am fighting against the gold medalist of Olympic Games "Rio 2016". During March 2018 I traveled for 2 weeks around Europe using an interrail pass, starting from Greece and reaching as far as Scotland.
