Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how IG Downloader ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. We built the app to keep your data on your device as much as possible. We do not run our own accounts, servers, or user database for the app.
IG Downloader is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
Information We Collect
The app itself does not ask you to create an account and does not collect your name, email, or contacts. The information involved in normal use is:
Instagram links you paste or share into the app, used only to fetch the media you request.
Your Instagram session cookies, if you choose to log in through the in-app browser (see below).
Downloaded media and basic details about it (such as the source page, caption, file size, and duration), stored locally so your library works.
This data stays on your device. We do not upload it to us.
Instagram Login and Cookies
When a partner downloader app is not installed, the app may ask you to log in to Instagram once through an in-app web view. This login happens directly between your device and Instagram. The resulting session cookies are stored locally on your device and are used only to request the content you ask to download. We never receive your Instagram username or password. You can clear this session at any time by logging out or clearing the app's data.
Downloaded Content and Local Storage
Media you download is saved to your device's public gallery (via the Android MediaStore) and referenced in a local on-device database so you can browse it in the Library. This content never leaves your device through us. You are responsible for the content you choose to download.
Advertising
The app displays ads using Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google and its partners may collect and process certain data, such as device identifiers and app-usage signals, in accordance with their own policies. Where required, we ask for your consent (for example, through Google's consent tools) before personalized ads are shown. Permissions
The app may request the following permissions:
Internet / network access — to fetch and download the media you request.
Storage / media access — to save downloads to your gallery.
Notifications — to show download progress and completion.
Permissions are used only for these purposes.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. The only third party involved in normal operation is the advertising SDK described above, plus Instagram itself when you request content from it.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because your downloads, database entries, and login session live on your device, you are in control of them. You can delete individual items or whole categories inside the app, remove files from your gallery, or clear the app's data/storage in your device settings to remove everything the app has stored.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us.
Security
We take reasonable measures to keep the app's on-device data protected. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
