My name is Nicole Ritter and this is my fourteenth year teaching at Indian Land High School. Prior to teaching at ILHS I taught social studies at Ware Shoals High School in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, and previous social studies teaching experience in Ohio. This is my twenty-fourth year teaching overall. When I am not doing teacher-related things, you can find me running the streets of Charlotte, walking my dogs, Ricky & Alex, listening to podcasts, spending time outdoors, and dreaming about my side-hustle, which will have something to do with a reliable stream of income without me working for it. Just checking to see if you are reading.
My personal educational journey has been life-long and continuing, as I endeavor to make my classroom a space for action research. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Findlay (Ohio) and got my Master's Degree shortly afterwards, from Bowling Green State University. From this point, I became a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified educator in 2011, and I followed this in 2017 by beginning my Doctorate in Education (Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology) degree and completed this coursework in August 2020. We will be instituting all that I learned in my doctoral research as we adjust to the post-COVID 19 world and make decisions about what this new learning atmosphere will look like. I hope you are as excited about becoming an active learner as I am for you!
This website and its contents are a glimpse into our flipped classroom. Expectations include a three-step approach to instruction. This will include a pre-class, during class, and after class phases of preparation and implementation.
This semester will be as excellent. Let's work together to learn more about human behavior and mental processes.
