Ready to Plan?

Planning Your Undergraduate Experience

As I mentioned in class, the daydreaming exercise helps you identify your ideal endpoint. So often we ask you all to plan one or two semesters in advance, but where are you going? This is key to making a good road map to getting you there.

Next, you need the self-audit. What do you have packed already for this trip (i.e. your strengths)? What might you need that you don't yet have (i.e. your weaknesses)? And what do you value most (as this is what will get you through any of the struggles along the way)?

Once you have the daydream and sense of what your strengths, weaknesses, and values are, it is time to plan your trip. Here is a general guide that I would recommend to most undergraduates. Feel free to tweak and revise as you need it!

Below is a template for helping you maximize your time at UGA. Make a copy and see what you can fill out. You will likely have to work with Athens/Degree Works to ensure you have all the courses you need, but this is just a detailed organizer to help you chart out your path. Transferred in or further along in your undergraduate experience! That is totally fine! So many people choose different paths at 20, 25, 50, and even 75! Just start where you are and make concrete steps toward the best life you can imagine.
