Methods

"Intersubjectivity in (inter)action: a multisensorial phenomenon"

The working methods of the course include:

  • Participants’ brief presentation of their own research and how the concept of intersubjectivity may play a part in it.

  • Lectures from the invited guests (Davis Le Breton, Jakub Mlynár) and the organizers (Iuliia Avgustis, Samira Ibnelkaïd, Florence Oloff)

  • Workshop activities to better handle the presented concepts and methodology (leading an explicitation interview, etc.)

  • Data session in which participants explore their own data set and analyse intersubjective phenomena (if necessary, participants can be provided with data from the organizers in order to practice)

  • Individual consultation sessions, where the participants have an opportunity to discuss their research projects with the Lecturers

  • A final presentation, by the participants, that highlights the way they can apply the concepts and methodology taught during the course, to analyse intersubjective phenomena on their own empirical data.

The participants are provided with reading materials for orientation before the course and to be used as a resource during the workshops and data sessions. Doctoral students receive 3 study points by participating actively in the course and giving a final presentation that relates the theme of the course to their own research projects (3 ECTS, grading: pass/fail).

Remarks

Given the ongoing situation (coronavirus pandemic), and the organizers’ familiarity with digital tools, this course will be led and completed in a hybrid way; both on-site (Leaf Infrastructure at the University of Oulu) and online (making use of digital platforms both for lectures and teamwork).
