Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, despite its recency, has enjoyed a long and tumultuous history. Currently, debates rage in the public and private sectors about how best to curb Section 230's liability protections for massive internet companies, if curb those protections at all.
This project aims to provide the reader with a birds-eye view of the history of Section 230 through a timeline that surveys federal circuit court decisions interpreting the statute, legislative action aimed at curbing liability protections, administrative action, and a survey of some reform proposals.
