This portfolio is a reflection of my journey as a pre-service teacher. It is a collection of lessons, moments, and memories that shaped me during my teaching internship. It also captures the learning, the challenges I faced, the small victories, and the many ways I grew through real-life classroom experience. Inside, you’ll find my lesson plans, extension activities, reflections, mentor feedback, and certifications all the pieces that tell the story of how I’ve developed myself as an aspiring teacher and as an individual of our society.
The teaching internship serves as the culminating experience of a pre-service teacher’s academic preparation. It allows future educators to bridge theory and practice and transition from being a student to becoming a teacher by stepping into an authentic learning environment. This phase of teacher preparation is designed to develop my ability to manage classrooms, design meaningful instruction, assess learning, and build relationships with students and colleagues.
Unlike Field Study 1 and Field Study 2, which primarily focus on observation and theoretical application, the teaching internship made me become immersive and participatory. While field studies provide foundational insight into the teaching and learning process, here, the learning becomes action-oriented. It is through this hands-on experience that I was truly able to understand the dynamic role of a teacher — not just as an instructor, but as a guide, mentor, and learner.
With all these in mind, this portfolio offers a glimpse of my experience as a teacher intern and will somehow give other aspiring interns ideas of how real-life teaching and learning happens. By reading through its contents, they may gain valuable perspectives on what to expect, how to prepare, and how to grow in their own internships.
