The University of Pretoria's Kodály Academy (UPKA), in collaboration with the Kodály Society of South Africa (KSSA) is hosting the third International Kodály Music Course in South Africa. Dr James Cuskelly – Director of the Cuskelly College of Music in Australia, and Lucinda Geoghegan – Creative Learning Director from NYCOS in Scotland, will be presenting the course.

The first International Kodály Course was held in 2019 by UPKA at the University of Pretoria, with James Cuskelly as the only presenter. For 5 days, over 80 participants got the first taste of Kodály music education training. The flame was ignited and the approach started to change teaching experiences for the better. In 2023 the second course was organised by UPKA and the KSSA. Three spectacular presenters taught over a 100 teachers from across the country: James Cuskelly, Lucinda Geoghegan and Michael Barrett. 13 different module options and workshops were presented and attendees could either just attend the modules, or submit assessments and therefore receiving Kodály Certification.
