We all experience internalized misogyny in different ways and to different degrees. However, as we experience the effects of the patriarchy, we also share this experience. I invite you to express your thoughts and stories in a creative way, and if you'd like, to also share them with others here.
Make Your Own
The prompt for this project is pretty simple, but does require some thinking. Ask yourselves these questions:
What is my conception of internalized misogyny?
How would I define it? What does it look like?
How have I experienced it?
What images are associated with it and my experiences?
After considering these questions, then you can start to make your collage.
But ultimately, go with your gut. Even if you are unsure where to start or still thinking of these questions.
These are just to help get you started, so don't feel pressured to get it 'just right.'
Tips for making a collage
look for material around you - anything from scrap paper, newspaper, magazines, receipts, stickers - can all give inspiration and be used as a base or be cut out
start with a piece of paper (any color, any size)
can also look for images on the web and print out
look for words you can cut out
any images you associate with your response to the questions or that you feel like using
remember that you can also draw things
you can always cover up mistakes or things you may not like after
use tape or glue
make something with thoughts in mind and trust the process
go with your heart and only look at your final product when you're done
