Many great resources are available for small rooms and apartments that live here at Wise Bread. But I want to take the time to look at the unique challenges of this economical and often derided life space, a simple studio. With a small square meter and almost all of them in only four walls (sometimes also in the bathroom), the studio can be uncomfortable and claustrophobic. (Also see: 7 ways to make the best use of a small kitchen)
1. Find storage anywhere
Myscha's article about living in a small space has many great ways to find storage. However, finding storage space can be more difficult if your small space is just a space. In this way, I want to add another storage option to the Myscha list that I used in my first studio - door. If you don't live in a special apartment ... (see bathroom concept in the room above), you must have at least one door. The hook can be attached to the door to hang a coat, towel, or bathrobe. However, the preferred method of storing doors is a shoe rack mounted on the door, because this small bag for shoes can hold so many useful things. In the small apartment where I live, the bathroom door is right next to the kitchen area and I use a shoe rack on the door to store all the spices, utensils, and food ingredients such as onions, garlic, and potatoes.
2. Don't sacrifice your favorite equipment
There is no point in enjoying the low cost of living in a small apartment if you have to sacrifice the basic things that make you happy. If you are most comfortable sleeping in a large bed, think about how you can make it with space or find another apartment. Put it on a double mattress every night, there's no point in waking up teasing every morning. In the same way, if you plan to spend the weekend baking cookies and bread, you might not be happy with a hot plate and half a meal.
3. Have fun
Studio life can be very quiet if you feel you can't invite friends. You can't arrange as many wild dance parties as you try in your studio (unless we have many definitions of "wild dance"), but it is possible to arrange many studio apartments so you can safely watch movies with friends or invite someone special for dinner. Keep this in mind when allocating space and choosing furniture.
4. Keep it clean
How messy an apartment will increase if there is only one room to support this mess. Keep it upright and don't underestimate the value of objects as a barrier that is worth seeing.
5. Exit. Leave it. I'm leaving
I can spend a lot of time alone (you have to work when you work from home), but even I'm starting to get confused if I spend too long in the same washroom. Get out and enjoy the world around you whether you walk or run, meet friends, read in the library, or do other free or inexpensive activities outside the studio.
