L-Cancelling

A technique where you can cancel the landing lag of an aerial attack by pressing 'L' or 'R' when your character hits the ground. It is helpful for extending combos and protecting oneself from being vulnerable after attacking.

Wavedashing

A technique where your character air-dodges at an angle into the ground thus putting the character in a sliding animation. It is helpful for quick movement as well as combo-ing.

Directional Influence (DI)

A technique where you can partially control the vector you are hit. This is performed by holding a direction on the Analog Stick before the final frame of the hit. It is helpful for surviving at high percents and avoiding long combos.

6. Advanced Techniques

Shield Dropping

A technique where you can fall through a platform after holding shield on top of it. This is performed by angling the Analog Stick downwards to a certain degree. This technique is helpful for acting out of shield on platform as well as hitting opponents below a platform.

Smash DI-ing

A technique where you can move your character during hit frames. This is performed by making directional inputs using the Analog Stick during hit frames. This technique is helpful for triggering 'tech' situations or preventing death.
