MEET THE ARTISTS
Originally from Montreal, Gabriel taught, performed and DJ’d for over a decade throughout North America before settling in his current home, Washington DC.
Gabriel’s style as a DJ is to create multiple varieties of waves for the dancers to ride. He loves building different kinds of energies throughout his set, always keeping his attention on the dancers and tuning into their vibe to identify when and how to raise and lower the tide. His inspiration is YOU!
Gabriel uses excellent DJ equipment and is particular about the quality of the sound, as well as his choice of tandas and cortinas. His music spans all eras, and he uses that range to bring out each dancer’s emotions. Everything is thoughtfully selected to expand your experience and inspire your creativity and flow!
I started DJing and training as a sound engineer 25 years ago, gaining valuable experience from performing, recording and teaching across all musical genres. For the last 10 years I have transitioned all of my professional activities into tango related events, DJing and sound engineering at marathons, encuentros and festivals in over 40 countries across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle-East.
In the last 5 years I have evolved primarily as a performing dancer and teacher, gaining in the process a greater insight into the wonders of tango arrangements and phrasing. As a community member I believe in the power of individual transformation to serve positive and sustainable collective change in society. Most importantly I strive to support and protect unconditionally the dignity of life in my thoughts, words and actions, a challenge I embrace whole fully.
I embrace creativity in every sense, to be fearless and playful, driven by the relentless power of transformation and the beauty that lies beyond. Whether practicing and competing in sports, working as a dancer, DJ, musician and sound engineer, or exploring the many facets of wood-working I’ve always needed to get out of my comfort zone and learn new skills.
Tango feels like poetry in motion, it is engaging yet remains elusive until all the layers have been peeled off and the walls have crumbled. It is complex yet accessible through discipline and a shared set of figures, patterns and conventions. It is intoxicating yet wholesome when driven by values of beauty, goodness and growth.
Every milonga feels like a new story unfolding with and within the music, and every dancer a character in that story, like every good story it is written in the now, through careful, studied and opportune selection of each tanda, to reflect every character and nurture every dialogue. As Nietzsche said : "In every Now, being begins"
Ragnar is a world traveler with a deep love for music and dance. Based in Germany, his passion for tango Argentino has taken him across borders both physical and metaphorical, connecting him with people and cultures through the universal language of tango.
Music has always been an essential part of his life; outside of tango, Ragnar plays the guitar and enjoys writing his own songs.
He curates each tanda to take dancers on a journey, guiding them through a rich variety of traditional tango music over the course of the milonga. For Ragnar, DJing is not just about playing music—it’s about creating an experience where music, movement and expression come together, where the dancers move to and within the music as they create a unique connection with their partner.

Hailing from Montreal, Melina Mistral is known for her ability to dance both sides of the embrace. Her passion for teaching and her pleasure in Djing has led her on a journey across the Americas and Europe, where she collaborated with many international professionals. She draws from her diverse background in various movement disciplines to analyse Tango's many styles and techniques and to explore how they shape and influence dancers’ motions.
Since 2018, Melina has been giving a workshop called "Take the Lead", giving the chance to women to learn how to lead in a safe, fun and nurturing environment.
My mother and I started dancing tango in Seville, Spain, when I was an 8th-grader. Before I knew I wanted to be a mathematician, I was already a tango enthusiast. We had a weekly tradition of going to the local Sunday milonga, which I continued during my years of undergrad when I moved to Barcelona, and now in Princeton with our Sunday Practice. I like to say that tango is the soundtrack of my life, as it orchestrates my love for community, self-expression, connection, and problem-solving.
