Travel funds are limited and train travel within the UK can be very expensive. Please book an advanced, off-peak or super-off peak train ticket if you can. If possible try to fly to Birmingham, East Midlands or London Luton. If you are travelling to Leicester via Heathrow or Gatwick Airports, please use whenever possible the National Express Service.
The University of Leicester website has an interactive map giving details of directions to the university campus by road, rail, bus / coach and air. For more detailed information about travel from particular airports click here.
Travelling to the university campus from Leicester Train Station
Leicester railway station is located at the end of London Road (A6). The university is located along University Road, which is connected to London Road (a right turn as you walk from the station after about a 5 minute walk). The university itself is about a 15-20 minute walk from the station. The university is also located next to Victoria Park. Alternatively, one could take the 83 or 48 bus outside the station, which should stop just outside the university's main entrance after about 7 minutes.
Travelling to the university campus from St Margaret's Bus Station
Intercity buses/coaches typically arrive at St. Margaret's Bus Station in the north of the city centre. From there, one can take the 48 bus, which should stop just outside the university's main entrance after about a 15 minute journey. Should you wish to walk to the main campus from St. Margaret's instead, the journey should take roughly 35-40 minutes.
