Privacy Policy — TemptShield
Last updated: July 18, 2026
TemptShield is a Chrome extension that shows a brief pause screen before websites you choose to protect. It is designed so that your data never leaves your device.
What the extension stores
The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage:
Your settings: the list of websites you protect, pause duration, theme, and related preferences.
Local statistics about pauses: which of your protected sites triggered a pause, when, the reason you selected, and any optional reflection note you typed.
Pause statistics are automatically deleted after 30 days. You can export or permanently erase them at any time from the extension's settings page.
What the extension does NOT do
It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any data. It makes zero network requests.
It does not track your general browsing history. Only navigations to websites you added to your protected list are recognized, and only those are recorded.
It does not read or modify the content of any web page.
It does not use accounts, analytics, advertising, or third-party services of any kind.
Chrome sync
Your data lives in chrome.storage.local, which Chrome does not sync between devices. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of its data.
Changes to this policy
If a future version ever changes how data is handled (for example, an optional sync feature), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the extension's update notes.
