I understand the situation now better. I wasn't aware that you can see the Power Button Menu. I've mentioned in your first post that you have done also Bios Recovery. I understand that you could see the recovery process displayed and that it was successfully completed (i.e. you saw a message that the bios recovery ended)? Did you perform the bios recovery by pressing F4 from Power Button menu or with the Security Jumper removed?

2. I had the same problem as you, there is a workaround. Please see the note I added to the very end of this article: -ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005532.html BIOS Recovery Update Instructions for Intel NUC

cvare, formatting the USB as you suggesting in this case will not help, as doclucas is informing you that he had successfully downgraded the bios from version 51 to 50. That means that not the USB formatting causes his problem.

"Downgrading the BIOS to an earlier version is not recommended and might not be supported. An earlier BIOS version might not support the latest processors, bug fixes, critical security updates, or the board revisions currently manufactured." -ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005532.html BIOS Recovery Update Instructions for Intel NUC

Title says it really-- I just tried updating my NUC via the F7 update method with the BN00068.bio, the same method I would normally do. However this time it failed during the update with an error, and my device is now unbootable. I figured it may have been a corruption somehow, so I tried a bios recovery with 2 different USB's formatted to fat32.

If you could guide me through creating a boot drive in Rufus with those specific files to try that'd be great. I've used Rufus to create a Windows Boot Disc before, but that was from an image file, this is an .exe and bios file. The guides on that link are no help.

The other possibility is to prepare bootable USB (use Rufus). And save on this USB contents of BNKBL357.86A.0069.BI.zip . Use iflash to update your bios: -pcs.html iFlash BIOS Update Instructions for Intel NUC . By the way, the latest bios for your NUC is ver 0069 .

I might, repeat might, be able to understand a specific generation of the processor, but the bios seems a bit strange. You may want to check if the employer holds meetings in bouncy castles, or something like that.

When I try this (boot with no sec jumper and nothing on USB): I press the power button, the NUC boots and then about 77 seconds later, it reboots. Then stays on forever. Nothing displayed on HDMI. Tried several monitors, including one which was working with visual bios before.

Not really sure what to do next. I don't understand how Intel bios can be so buggy. I simply modified one or two settings and since then computer has not displayed anything. I have contacted customer assistance, and they tell me that warranty has expired, and they cannot do anything for me. I really don't understand.

@LeonWaksman or @n_scott_pearson : can you help me identify this blinking LED pattern in this video: -NUCs/NUC7i5BNH-no-display-after-bios-setting-change-constant-reboots/m-p/1284901/highlight/true#M83483

3.1 Prepare USB stick fully formatted to FAT32 . Format your USB with Quick Format option unchecked. Do not format your USB in MAC (OS) or Linux machine. Use Windows. Download the BN0083.bio file. Copy the BN0083.bio file to the root of this USB.

3. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the bottom panel from your NUC.

3. Remove the Yellow Bios Security Jumper. (page 59 in Technical Product Specification)

5. Insert the USB with the BN0083.bio file into rear USB slot.

6. Reconnect the power adapter and power ON the NUC. Wait 30 sec - 2min. The Recovery process will start automatically and will end after 2 -5 minutes.

7. When bios recovery is completed, press and hold the Power Button to switch the power OFF, remove the power adapter and replace the Security Jumper (pins 1-2) . Reinstall the bottom panel.

8. Power your NUC ON.

9. Enter Bios setting by pressing F2 during boot process.

10. Press F9(followed by "Y"), to set Bios to default settings. Press F10 (followed by "Y"), to save the settings and exit to O.S. Let the NUC fully reboot.

This updater moved from using the our bios vendor updater tool, to capsule based updates due to the vendor updater tool not supporting retimer firmware updates which are required for thunderbolt certification.

I am using Pop OS on framework and previously had everything working properly, however it looks like beta bios currently has brightness controls not work and not even showing up in software. Is there a timeframe for fixes to beta firmware?

From your post, I've understand that you have successfully updated bios to the last version, using recovery method. However, when you are connected to internet, your display goes blank. In this case I suggest to take the following steps:

Thank you for the tips. The graphics driver is clearly the problem. As soon as i installed the intel graphics dirver the screen goes black. I tried the driver Version: 24.20.100.6194 and 24.20.100.6025. Do you have any idea to handle this problem?

After short review of the file you have generated, I suspect that your problem is as result of your booting mode. From the report I can see that your bios works in: BIOS Mode:"Legacy" . This may be as result that you have disabled the UEFI mode in bios and/or have installed your Windows in legacy mode instead of UEFI mode. In the correct installation/working mode this line should read: BIOS Mode:"UEFI"

Please make shure that UEFI boot mode in bios is enabled and reinstall Windows according to the following tutorial: -clean-install-windows-10-a.html Windows 10 Help Forums . Skip on para.12 and go directly to para.13.

I have a NUC6i5SYH with Windows 10 Pro currently using BIOS SYSKLi35.86A version 28 and I cannot update the bios. I have tried 3 different methods on a variety of the different BIOS versions, and they all have the same problem.

For the first two methods immediately after I proceed with the flash the computer turns off and the led light blinks orange on for 2-3 seconds, and off for 1-2 seconds repeated indefinitely. According to the blink codes, this may mean that the power on circuit has failed. If the bios flash would proceed as normal, then the computer should restart and begin bios flashing. If I force off the computer (by holding the power button for 10+ seconds) then turn it back on, the computer fails to post and it goes into recovery mode - rolling back the bios and any configurations.

The reason why I am trying to update the bios because I believe it will fix my BSODs. Currently my fresh installed Windows doesn't BSOD at all until OS updates are installed. After updates are installed only safe mode doesn't BSOD. This started happening around 2 months ago - before it was working fine for two years. This BSOD is the undefined behavior type of BSOD so I get all sorts of stopcodes. Did memory tests, showed up nothing. Looking like a software problem to me.

Okay, I think I found out how to update but not sure if it is the correct method. I placed a single bios file root level on a USB drive and inserted it. Removed the BIOS security jumper inside the computer. Turn it on and pressed F7 and now it is flashing the bios.

I think I see the problem. Because the current installed bios on the board is not at the transition level for gen 3 cpu[0040] then you need to follow the path via the lower left corner box of the flow chart which is to 1st flash to the transition bios level, then flash to a later version [0043]

Following the flow chart to the letter, if you follow the no path at the top, then you are forever stuck with that combination and can never install a gen 3 cpu, because if you then restart the chart and follow the yes path to install a gen3 cpu, you come unstuck at the lower lh box, because the box above that asks if your at the transition bios level, to which you must answer no, but then at the next box, your asked to 'update' to the transition bios [0032] which is imposible, as elsewhere in the notes it states that once the board has been flashed with 0040 or higher, it is no longer possible to flash any version less than 0040.

My hades-canyon has the latest 0059 bios. I t was installed the day it was avilable. In the past few weeks/months I've noticed that anytime I go into the bios my time is way off. I continuously have to enter the current time and now the date has started to also be off.

I followed your instructions to the T and trying the F4 bios recovery simply does not function correctly. I have also tried the F7 bios install , both inside the bios and outside of the bios and they don't even work correctly. Also tried the .msi from within windows and it tells me it can't update itself with the same bios or something similar.

I have the exact same thing. I purchaged a nuc5i5ryk and i can not get in the bios with F2. The nuc is connected to a Marantz SR7005 receiver with hdmi. Receiver is connected to a pioneer plasma 1080i. I can get the boot sequence with F10 and install windows 8 with usb. But when i press F2 during boot, i get a black/blank screen. Nothing happens. Next i switch the nuc of by holding the power button. Start again and windows start normal. nuc has latest bios. Could need some help with this.

i did't need to update the bios. It was with this version delivered. I checked the version with a command line within windows, found with google. To connect direct to the tv is not an option at the moment, the cable is completely in a cabinet, very difficult to get out. The stange thing is, i can see everything on the screen, the nuc logo, the boot sequence. The only thing wat does not work is the bios screen. 2351a5e196
