We are a group of students from Instituto Superior Técnico who want to address a problem faced during security forces operations involving the use of dogs. The work carried out by these dogs is essential to the success of these missions and, therefore, ensuring their safety is crucial. In addition, our project will also serve to provide the handler with a direct and more detailed analysis of the environment in which the dog is involved.
So in order to achieve our goal, we will develop a vest equipped with sensors, a camera and GPS. This data will be transmitted to the handler in real time through a website also created by us. This allows remote monitoring and communication with the dog, ensuring that it is not in a dangerous situation. Our overall goal is to increase the dog's safety and provide military forces with a higher success rate in their operations.
This video shows the work our team has done over the past semester to solve the problem of dog safety in rescue missions and dangerous environments. Until the EletroCap day, we will continue to improve the prototype to create something more robust and compact, because after testing with the dog, we concluded that we need to improve in this aspect. However, the video clearly shows the content of our project and the implementation of our solution.
