ASSURE Model
The ASSURE Model is an instructional design model that has the goal of producing more effective teaching and learning. The model's name is an acronym for each of its six steps.
Here is a breakdown of each of the model's steps:
Analyze learners. Examine learner characteristics that are associated with the desired learning outcomes.
State standards and objectives. Create a statement that specifies what knowledge or skills learners will gain as a result of the instruction.
Select strategies, technology, media, and materials. Choose instructional strategies, technology, media, and materials that will produce the desired results.
Utilize technology, media, and materials. Determine how to use the selected technology, media, and materials. Follow the "Five P's" process to do so:
Preview the technology, media, and materials.
Prepare the technology, media, and materials.
Prepare the environment.
Prepare the learners.
Provide the learning experience.
Require learner participation. Make plans regarding how to actively engage learners in the material.
Evaluate and revise. Evaluate the impact of the instruction on learners.
