An internationally recognized expert in academic integrity and ethics in higher education. As the Director of the Academic Integrity Office & Triton Testing Center at the University of California, San Diego, she leads innovative efforts to cultivate integrity-centered learning environments and assessment practices. With a career spanning nearly two decades, Dr. Bertram Gallant has advised universities, policymakers, and global organizations on fostering cultures of honesty and accountability in the face of emerging challenges—most recently, the integration of Generative AI in education.
A prolific author, Tricia’s books, including The Opposite of Cheating: Teaching for Integrity in the Age of AI (2025), have shaped institutional approaches to academic integrity worldwide. Her scholarship blends research with practical strategies, making her a sought-after speaker, consultant, and media commentator on issues of cheating, AI, ethics, and assessment security.

Miramar College
Dr. Jacqueline Hester is the dean of Public Safety at Miramar College, overseeing Fire Technology, EMT, Lifeguard, San Diego Regional Police Academy, and San Diego Sheriff and Detention Academies. With over a decade in higher education leadership, she has led innovative programs, including the Non-Credit to Credit Alignment initiative, recognized by the Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges. Previously, she served as dean at San Diego College of Continuing Education and Kennedy-King College, co-leading technology and workforce initiatives. She earned a doctoral degree and a Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, and her master’s degree from Saint Xavier University.
College of the Siskiyous
John “JT” Tarantino is the director of Planning, Assessment, and Research at College of the Siskiyous, where he combines business operations acumen with educational purpose. After over a decade in the technology industry, he transitioned into higher education to create transformative impact—implementing intuitive data platforms, streamlining institutional processes, and delivering accessible analytics that elevate student success. Known for translating complex data into clear, poignant stories, Tarantino advocates equity through numbers and empowers teams with meaningful insights. He’s currently working toward a doctoral degree from Rockhurst University and has earned a master’s degree from University of Portland.
Santiago Canyon College
Scotty James is a professor and the Distance Education coordinator at Santiago Canyon College. He started his career helping disabled students use technology to overcome learning barriers, which also provided him with a strong background in ADA Accessibility. He’s been in higher education for more than 25 years, teaching for 11 years, and is passionate about integrating technology to promote learning and engagement. James teaches courses on educational technologies, including AI for educators and instructional design for online learning. He earned a master’s degree from Pepperdine University, a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and an associate degree from Santiago Canyon College.
Moreno Valley College
Donnell Philip Layne is an educator, technologist, and director of the iMAKE Innovation Center at Moreno Valley College. He’s secured over $12 million in federal funding for STEM equity and led the development of a 5,000 sq. ft. innovation hub and mobile makerspace. He co-founded Twinflame Ventures and Catalysts Design Studios, advancing entrepreneurship, AR/VR, and creative technology. Layne focuses on preparing learners for the future of work through AI, workforce training, and immersive learning, with a deep commitment to underserved communities and early childhood education. He earned a master’s degree from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree from Cornell University.
Craig Hayward is a strategic advisor to the Chancellor (Vice Chancellor of AI Strategy and Digital Transformation), providing expertise on research and data design. His focus is on reimagining and expanding critical statewide data and research infrastructure. Hayward also leads statewide professional development to strengthen data visualization, evidence-based design and high-impact strategies to advance student access and success with equity.
Hayward most recently served as associate vice chancellor of analytics and innovation at the Kern Community College District. He has also served in roles at Bakersfield College, Irvine Valley College, Cabrillo College, Mendocino College and the Rancho Santiago Community College District. Hayward earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University and his PhD in psychology from the University of California, Irvine.
Palomar College
Solange Bushra Wasef, MS, RD is an Associate Professor and faculty lead for Nutrition at Palomar College. Throughout her career, she has incorporated active learning and game-based techniques in her classroom and has led workshops for faculty on these strategies. In the age of AI, she continues to develop strategic approaches that help students master the material while gaining a competitive edge for their future by leveraging AI transparently. She also guides students through a six-part AI literacy series that equips them with a decision-making framework for when and how it is most and least beneficial to use AI.
Riverside City College
Larry Burns Associate Faculty, Dept of English and Media Studies, Riverside City College teaches English & Humanities coursework in person (2008-) and online (2015-). In 2020, he created an interactive text-based sculpture using cardboard and ChatGPT2 outputs. In early 2023, he turned his classroom into a GenAI testing lab and never looked back. His teaching centers on discussion-based learning with GenAI as collaborator, developing content that improves student AI literacy without sacrificing critical thinking or academic rigor.
MiraCosta College
Shawn Firouzian is a Mathematics Professor and a Ph.D. candidate in Statistics and Data Science Education at National University. He leads initiatives including AI Learning Assistants through Nectir AI and the Dual Enrollment and Data Science Pathways programs in collaboration with UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and the Oceanside Unified School District. His teaching journey spans refugee camps in Ağrı, Turkey; bomb shelters in Haifa, Israel; and underserved neighborhoods in St. Louis and San Diego. As the first in his family to attend college, Shawn earned dual bachelor’s degrees in pure and applied mathematics, along with dual master’s degrees in mathematics and science education.
