Privacy Policy for Instant Share

This privacy policy explains how Instant Share ("the app") handles information. Instant Share is designed to work entirely without the internet or any server — it shares files directly between devices over a local Wi-Fi network or hotspot.

Summary: We don't collect your data.

Instant Share has no backend server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking services of any kind. Nothing you do in the app is ever transmitted to us or to any company.

How the app works

- You create a group (as host) or join one (as a member) using a QR code or a short access code.

- Once connected, files, photos, and videos are sent directly between devices over your local Wi-Fi network or hotspot — never through the internet, and never through any server we operate.

- Only devices you explicitly invite (by sharing your QR code or access code) or that you explicitly choose to join can connect to a group.

Information stored on your device

- A device identifier and a display name (which you can change in Settings) are stored locally on your device so other members of a group can identify you. This information is never sent anywhere except directly to the other devices in the same group, over your local network.

- Files you receive are saved to your device's Downloads folder, under an "Instant Share" subfolder.

- None of this information is uploaded to us, stored on any server, or shared with any third party.

Permissions the app requests, and why

- Camera — to scan a QR code when joining a group. The camera feed is not recorded or stored.

- Wi-Fi / Network State / Nearby Devices — to discover and connect to other devices on the same local network.

- Storage / Notifications — to save received files and show transfer progress.

No permission is used to collect data for any purpose other than the local file-sharing feature it supports.

Third parties

Instant Share does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-processing services. No data leaves your local network through the app.

Children's privacy

Instant Share does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
