InStash ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our macOS sticky notes application.
In short: Your notes stay yours. We don't collect, access, or sell your personal data.

Note Content: The text, formatting, and settings of your sticky notes are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Preferences: Your app settings (such as default note color, opacity, and keyboard shortcuts) are stored locally using standard macOS preferences.

Usage analytics or behavioral data

Device identifiers for tracking purposes

iCloud Sync
If you choose to enable iCloud sync (when available), your notes will be synced across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service.
Important points about iCloud sync:
Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers
We do not have access to your iCloud data
Sync is managed entirely by Apple's infrastructure
You can disable iCloud sync at any time in System Settings

Data Storage
All your data is stored:
Locally on your Mac in the app's SwiftData container
In your iCloud account (if sync is enabled), managed by Apple's CloudKit
We do not operate any servers that store your personal data.
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures:
All local data is stored using Apple's secure SwiftData framework
iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
The app runs in a sandboxed environment as required by macOS
Third-Party Services
InStash does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
The only external service used is Apple's CloudKit for optional iCloud sync, which is governed by Apple's privacy practices.
Children's Privacy
InStash does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or personal information to function.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
Access: Your notes are stored locally and you can access them anytime
Export: You can copy your note content at any time
Delete: Deleting the app removes all local data; iCloud data can be managed through iCloud settings

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
