Welcome to InstantCut (hereinafter referred to as "the App" or "we").
InstantCut is an on-device, AI-powered video editing application. We deeply value your privacy, and our core design philosophy is centered around the principle that "your videos are never uploaded to our servers."
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle and process information related to your use of the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Item
Description
Videos & AI Analysis
Processed solely on your device; never uploaded to our servers.
Payment Information
Processed entirely by Apple (App Store); we do not collect or store credit card numbers.
Subscription Status
Verified via RevenueCat to validate purchases and grant Premium features.
Ad Tracking
No IDFA is used; we do not engage in cross-app ad tracking.
Analytics Services
Third-party analytics SDKs (such as Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.) are not integrated.
Local Data
Export counts, user preferences, and editing drafts are stored only on your local device.
Under normal usage of the App, we do not collect, store, or transmit the following information to our own servers:
Your selected or exported video and audio content.
Analysis results generated by local AI (e.g., scene recognition, semantic scoring, editing timelines).
Precise or coarse geographic location data.
Contacts or address books.
Browsing history or search queries within the App.
Name, email address, or phone number (unless you voluntarily initiate contact for customer support).
Credit card, debit card, or financial account information.
To provide our core video editing functionalities, the App accesses and processes the following data locally on your iPhone or iPad. This data is never transmitted to our servers:
Purpose: To allow you to select videos for editing, and to read video files for local analysis and exporting.
Processing: Videos are processed within a temporary directory or the application sandbox on your device. All AI analysis (utilizing Apple's system frameworks and locally embedded semantic models) is performed strictly on-device.
Permissions: The App will request "Photos" access permission. You can revoke this permission at any time in your iOS Settings.
The App utilizes on-device technologies (such as Apple Vision, Sound Analysis, and locally embedded semantic models) to analyze video content.
The semantic model includes Apple MobileCLIP2 (licensed under the Apple Sample Code License).
These analysis results are used solely to generate editing suggestions and export the final product. They are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud servers.
Exported videos are temporarily stored in a local directory on your device.
When you tap "Share Video," the App invokes the iOS native share sheet. Subsequent actions—such as saving the video to your camera roll or sending it to other apps—are determined entirely by you and are outside our control.
The following data is stored exclusively in your device's UserDefaults or application sandbox:
Data Type
Purpose
Daily Free Export Count
Enforces the daily export limit for the free version.
Editing Preferences
Saved user preferences (e.g., whether to check for similar videos before processing).
Manual Editing Drafts
Stores unfinished editing projects, including timelines and copies of media files.
Note: Deleting the App will generally remove all the aforementioned local data from your device (subject to standard iOS system behavior).
While we do not operate a backend server to process your videos, we utilize third-party services to facilitate subscriptions and in-app purchases. According to Apple's definitions, the following data may leave your device and be processed by these third parties:
When you purchase or restore a subscription:
Payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple.
We cannot and do not access your credit card number or full billing details.
Subscription management, cancellations, and refunds are governed by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and your App Store account settings.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and validate receipts to confirm your Premium entitlement status.
Data that may be transmitted to RevenueCat includes:
Purchase history (e.g., product IDs, subscription status, entitlement validity, expiration dates).
A randomly generated, anonymous user identifier created by RevenueCat (App User ID).
Technical details required for purchase validation (e.g., cryptographic receipt data).
Purpose of RevenueCat integration:
Validating subscriptions and preventing fraud.
Unlocking Premium features (e.g., longer video processing, higher resolutions, watermark removal, and increased export limits).
Operational and business analysis via the RevenueCat dashboard (used solely to understand overall subscription metrics, not for advertising tracking).
Our Current Implementation:
We do not require you to sign up or log in to an account.
We do not actively collect your email, name, or phone number.
We do not integrate advertising identifiers (IDFA).
We do not link the anonymous RevenueCat ID with your real-world identity.
For details on how RevenueCat processes data, please refer to their Privacy Policy:
https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
We use the limited information available to us solely for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain App functionalities (local video editing, exporting, and draft saving).
To verify subscription status and unlock Premium features.
To respond to your customer support inquiries (if you contact us voluntarily).
To comply with applicable laws or respond to lawful legal requests.
We do not sell your data to third parties, nor do we use it for cross-app behavioral tracking or targeted advertising.
We do not sell your personal data. We only share limited information under the following circumstances:
Recipient
Reason for Sharing
RevenueCat
For subscription validation and entitlement management.
Apple
For in-app purchases and payment processing.
Law Enforcement / Authorities
When strictly required to do so by applicable law or valid legal processes.
Aside from the exceptions listed above, your videos and local AI analysis results are never shared with any third party.
Data Type
Retention Method
Videos & AI Analysis
Temporarily cached on your device during processing; can be cleared immediately upon completion.
Drafts & Preferences
Retained on your device until you manually delete the drafts or uninstall the App.
Subscription Records
Retained by RevenueCat in accordance with their privacy policy; we only query this data to check your current entitlement status.
We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including:
Keeping video and AI processing localized strictly on-device to minimize data exposure and leak risks.
Utilizing industry-standard mechanisms provided by Apple and RevenueCat for subscription validation.
Ensuring sensitive API keys are injected during the build process rather than being hardcoded directly into the App’s source code.
However, please note that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you have concerns about your device's security, we recommend keeping your iOS updated and enabling a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
Depending on your geographic location, you may have the following legal rights regarding your data:
Right of Access: To know what data we hold about you.
Right to Erasure (Deletion): To request the deletion of any data under our direct control.
Withdrawal of Consent: For example, revoking the App's access to your Photos library.
Subscription Management: Managing or canceling your subscription at any time via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Turn off the "Photos" permission for InstantCut in iOS Settings (please note this will disable video selection features).
Delete the App from your device to completely remove all local drafts, settings, and preferences.
Manage your subscriptions directly through the App Store.
Use the "Restore Purchases" feature inside the App to resynchronize your subscription status.
If you require assistance, please contact us via the email address listed below. If you seek support regarding subscription issues, we may ask you to provide your anonymous RevenueCat User ID to locate your transaction history (this is entirely optional and voluntary).
The App is not designed or intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately, and we will take prompt steps to delete it.
The App is provided by a developer located in Taiwan. Subscription-related metadata may be processed outside of your home country (for instance, on servers operated by RevenueCat or Apple). By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be processed internationally and that data protection laws in these jurisdictions may differ from those in your country.
This Privacy Policy may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as RevenueCat or Apple). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we highly recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies independently.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When material changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and provide notice within the App as appropriate. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
