Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important. This Privacy Policy explains how the Instagram Favorites browser extension (“the Extension”) handles information.
The Extension does not collect, transmit, or store personal information on external servers operated by the developer. We do not run analytics, tracking, telemetry, advertising, or fingerprinting.
The Extension stores data locally in your browser using the Chrome Storage API to provide its functionality. Stored data may include:
A list of Instagram usernames you add to your favorites (up to 150 profiles)
Extension preferences and settings (e.g., super favorites, badge/alerts settings)
Story status information needed to display which favorites have new stories
Temporarily cached profile pictures for display purposes
This data is accessible only on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing extension data or uninstalling the Extension.
If Chrome Sync is enabled on your device, this locally stored data may sync across your devices through your Google account. This syncing is managed by Google; the developer does not have access to your synced data.
The Extension interacts with Instagram domains (e.g., instagram.com, cdninstagram.com, fbcdn.net) to retrieve publicly available story content and profile media required for the Extension’s features. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
Your use of Instagram is governed by Instagram’s own policies: Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
The Extension requests the following permissions only to provide its features:
storage — to save your favorites list and settings locally in your browser
alarms — to periodically refresh story status for your favorites and update the badge
sidePanel — to display the Extension interface in Chrome’s side panel
downloads — to allow you to download story photos or videos to your device
Host permissions — to access Instagram pages and media endpoints needed to load stories and media content
The Extension allows you to download publicly available Instagram story media (photos/videos) to your device. The developer does not receive or store downloaded files. You are responsible for how you use downloaded content and for complying with applicable laws and Instagram’s Terms of Use.
We do not sell, share, rent, or transfer user data to third parties. The Extension does not send your favorites list, settings, or usage information to the developer’s servers.
The Extension does not use remote code. It does not load external JavaScript/Wasm for execution, and it does not use eval() for executing arbitrary strings as code.
The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The Extension is intended to comply with Chrome Web Store policies. Any use of information received from Google APIs (if applicable) will adhere to the Chrome Web Store Program Policies and related user data requirements.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and the “Last updated” date will be revised.
