Announcements

Welcome to the Announcements page! We give regular updates through Remind and Discord, as well as occasionally on Instagram, but you can also check the website for news. We aren't moving old announcements here; we're simply starting fresh! Practices are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 P.M. Central.

1-10-18

It has been a while since our last update, but we at Inspire Gaming hope everyone had a happy new year! Let's run through what's been going on over the holidays:

We took a break for a bit from practices to allow everyone to enjoy their winter festivities.
We have recently returned from that break! Practices are happening again.
Inspire Gaming changed its practice time from 8 P.M. central to 7 P.M. central, one hour earlier, as it would get a little late for some people. Hurrah!
Inspire also planned on having an opening before our break, but we cancelled it to have our opening in 2018 instead. You'll hear next when we are open for new members soon!
We're working on lots of renovations, including updating our rules, getting new staff members and officers, and running our practices in a way that is more consistent with our values of acceptance, teamwork and the importance of education and dedication.

Inspire Gaming Holiday Tournament!

We are excited to announce that our first tournament will be held to commemorate the holiday season this year. While the tournament is only open to members of Inspire Gaming, hopefully the idea of winning RP will encourage new people to sign up in the future! The rules are as follows:

1. The tournament will be held during practice on Friday, December 1st, at 8 pm central.
2. You must show up to compete in the tournament.
3. The tournament will be a 1v1, with the focus of the tournament being on showing your skills off and how you have improved as a player, as well as to give our own little "gift" to the community for the upcoming holidays.
4. The 1v1s will take place on Howling Abyss.
5. The tournament will be a single elimination bracket style.
6. In order to win a game, you must either:

a. Get first blood.

b. Get first tower.

c. Farm 100 minions.

7. Bans will not be allowed.
8. Unsportsmanlike behavior will have you disqualified from the tournament.
9.The winner of the tournament will receive ten (10) USD of Riot Points.
10. You must sign up using this form before December 9th 11:59 pm central time.
11. Only Inspire Gaming members can register for this tournament.

And if you are interested in signing up, you can register with the "Holiday Tournament 2017" form in our #filloutsomeforms tab in the Discord server.

A few more exciting tidbits:

We hope to have another opening sometime in December! That will give those interested a chance to join.
We are still discussing a new practice schedule. We will have our final decision made before the opening and updates will be made accordingly.
We are getting started with ranked! Our officers are working out the practice schedule, and we will have our "Ranked" tab up on the website within the week.
Just a regular reminder that practices during the holidays are not mandatory, but we will still hold them, should you wish to attend. At the mention of holidays, we are mainly referring to Thanksgiving and Christmas, HOWEVER: if you celebrate a holiday we do not know about, please let us know and you will promptly be excused!

11-8-17

We are excited to announce that for the month of November, the Member of the Month is ToastyVox! He was selected for Member of the Month based on his exemplary dedication. Dedication is an important trait for everyone to have--whether in League of Legends, or the real world, dedication is required to achieve goals and to make a difference. Toasty's dedication to Inspire has been evident through his well-appreciated coaching tips, his attendance of practices, his suggestions for the group, and his constant participation in the server even outside of practice. We hope Toasty can INSPIRE other members to be just as dedicated!

As well, just a few updates:

This week, we will be announcing the details of our tournament which will be held later this month.
We are working on a system for potential Officers and Staff Members to learn and apply for the position, meaning hopefully by at least the end of the year we will be looking for new admins.
We have a new channel in our discord, #filloutsomeforms, where we are posting surveys from now on. In this channel, we have pinned a form to fill out when you need to miss a practice--finally, we have a simple system for keeping up with absences!
The admin team is discussing a potential change in practice times to move them back an hour. Please let us know in #askowner or message anyone on the admin team privately if this new schedule would be BETTER or WORSE for you.
We also are exploring new ideas to implement into practice, to truly help our members LEARN!
And finally, with the start of preseason, we wish everyone a happy Season 8 and are excited to get our ranked teams started. We will add a "Ranked" tab on the website once we get rolling.

10-20-17

It has been a while since our last update, but we have lots of great new things this announcement!

First of all, I would like to congratulate all of our new members on becoming an official part of our community. The last month has been full of fun and learning thanks to you all. We wouldn't be here without you!

Second, a pretty big update... we now have an Instagram! Follow us @inspiregaming00 to keep up with our posts. We will announce a few things there, post reminders on practice days, feature clips created by our members, let you know about openings, and more. Another feature along with the Instagram is the addition of "Member of the Month." This is a way to celebrate the accomplishments a unique member has achieved, as well as commend them for their positive attitude and non-toxic behavior. We will announce the Member of the Month mainly on our Instagram, but make small announcements elsewhere about it--so make sure to follow us! If you are selected as MotM you will have the ability to select one Friday's activity as long as it is fair, plus all the glory of the title in itself. We're excited to see who receives MotM first!

Another touch of news is over our first tournament. In the near future, we will be holding a competition that one Inspire Gaming member will be able to win $10 of RP from. We will be revealing more delicious details about the event in November.

On the topic of November, we are prepping for preseason! By November 8th, we will be ready with ranked teams so that Inspire Gaming members interested in climbing as a team can practice and prep together for the main season. You will be hearing an announcement from the Officer team as soon as possible!

A final few important reminders--if you will not be at practice, PLEASE let us know before hand. We have a policy that states if you miss four practices in a row without an excusal, you will then have one week following the absences to get in touch with us. If you fail to contact us during that week, you will be kicked from the group. Then, if you have trouble with communication, you can always let us know afterwards what happened--letting us know later is better than not having any contact at all! You can always email us if you need to be excused, message us on Remind, privately message someone on the admin team on Discord, or use the now-available option of messaging us on our Instagram.

Thanks for reading through this somewhat-lengthier post! We'll be ready to get in touch with you guys again as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please email inspiregaming00@gmail.com.

9-29-17

Don't forget that today's practice is for old members only. We want to make sure our entire personnel team is there for our welcoming "party" on Saturday! New members, show up Saturday. Old members, show up Friday and Saturday!

9-25-17

As of today, we are now closed. Today is also the day welcoming emails will be sent out! Make sure you check your email if you registered so that you can join the Discord server and get all the awesome info you need. While normally practices are Fridays and Saturdays, the new members this week will be asked to attend Saturday only, as not everyone on the faculty team can attend Friday. We are excited to have our big welcome party this week!

9-23-17

The opening ends tomorrow! We are extremely hyped up to meet all of our new members. So, remember to check your emails on the 25th! That is where all the important information will be. As well, we have a cool update in the Discord server; thanks to Discord adding the category feature, we now have collapsible categories to help sort channels. Check the image below for a summary! Also, remember that we will be having a Welcome practice (sort of like a little party!) for our new members on Saturday, October 7th. Cheers!

9-16-17

We are now halfway through our opening, and things are going great! As part of the opening, we are making a change to the rules: Summoners below level 30/unranked are now able to join. We will be having special groups in practice so that pre-30 members can learn the ropes of League of Legends! Hopefully, this will allow those new to this game's community to not develop toxic traits, have friends, and to learn a lot and make the leveling up process easier.

9-10-17

Inspire Gaming is now open! Come register for a wonderful group! We also are now in beta with our second opening being under way. What this is means is that we can run smoothly as a group without having to work out quite as many kinks. However, since it's only beta, there still might be a few quirks here and there.

9-6-17

Our old member, Saffron, is returning to the group! Huzzah! We're excited to have him back as a practice officer. Hopefully, with his addition to the team, practices will run a lot smoother. The team is gearing up for our opening in four days--it's time to get excited! Also, since it is now September, we need any members who haven't yet to fill out our monthly form in the Announcements tab on the Discord server.

9-4-2017:

This weekend, several people were absent due to the holidays. No worries! Whenever you miss practice around holiday times, you'll be excused automatically. However, practice will still be held, so if you don't have anything to do, try and make it! We still would prefer you tell us beforehand if you'll be gone, as well.

8-27-2017:

The new website is now up and running! Hopefully, you all will find its new appearance sleek and modern, as compared to our old website. (There's a preview of the old one, in case you WANTED to remember our dark, dark past.) Also, great news--we'll be having our second opening very soon! It will last for two weeks, beginning September 10th, 2017, and lasting through September 24th, 2017. We're excited to meet all of our new members! Technically, we're still in our alpha stage, but once the new opening begins, we'll be transitioning into beta.
