INSOLVENT

Insolvent brings together paintings and installations that explore slowness, inefficiency and hesitation as forms of resistance. Including artists from the Turps Studio Programme, the exhibition considers what happens when painting refuses the demands of productivity and efficiency.

Made inside frictional lives, these practices embrace compromise, failure, repetition and deliberate non-compliance. Rather than treating these conditions solely as obstacles to overcome, Insolvent asks whether, in celebrating them, they offer a different structure for success; one grounded in human scale and the possibility of art as a space for refusal, connection and wider ways of being.
