As a licensed psychotherapist my approach has centered on developing insight through introspection and consideration of sociological and biological contexts we find ourselves in. My treatment approach tends to blend mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral theory, evolutionary psychology and, occasionally, humor. While goals are unique for every individual, my aims will always including providing compassionate, evidence-based, interventions to facilitate lasting change.
In a nutshell, mindfulness based treatment and cognitive-behavioral treatment aid individuals in gaining insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This is achieved in large measure by fostering non-judgmental present-moment awareness, avoiding identification with thoughts, challenge irrational beliefs and dissolving ones sense of self when it stifles growth. Recognizing thoughts as an appearance, which we can chose to entertain, or not, can have profound implications.
I also believe a therapist should be able to skillfully direct you to support outside their practice. I attempt to leverage my expertise and professional network to support clients when a referral to another provider or service is warranted. Weather seeking consultation or formal psychotherapy, you should expect direct and productive interactions when we meet.
