November 7-10th, 2022
Anne-Hélène Olivier visited WLU team. She presented the joint work during a seminar of the department. We have worked on the results from the summer experiments with older adults to be submitted to ISPGR. We have also worked on the submission of a symposium to ISPGR 2023.
July, 3rd, 2022
3rd BEAR Meeting online and in Montreal during ISPGR 2022. We have discussed the results of the 2 ongoing studies about collision avoidance between young and older adult in real and VR conditions. We have also discussed future plans for collaborations with the end of BEAR funding.

We get a MITACS grant to fund the venue of 3 students from Wilfrid Laurier University in Rennes during 3 months on the topics of aging and collision avoidance. Brooke Thompson, Megan Hammill and Gabriel Massarotto, Welcome in Rennes!

We are currently working on the design of a new experiment to understand the role of Time to Contact information and passing order during situations of head-on interactions between walkers. We just get a positive answer from MITACS program to fund the stay in Waterloo of one Master Student from Rennes to conduct this experiment in young and older adults as soon as travels are allowed and safe.

2nd Bear meeting in Waterloo.
We have worked on the results from the experimental sessions conducted in June and July regarding visuo-motor strategies in older aldults as well as the interaction with a virtual walker with varying speed and trunk sway. We also share some code and methods for eye-tracking data analysis. We also meet with the PIE group.

Within the frame of the BEAR research topic, we are part of the international group of discussion PIE (Pedestrian Interaction in an Environment). The objective is to organize frequent online meetings where students can present their work and where we can discuss specific research questions. The first meeting was held on the 11th of October.

We are pleased to welcome Michael-Barnett Cowan in Rennes for 1 month as a visiting professor in University of Rennes 2.
Michael will give 4 lectures on the multisensory integration of perceptual information. We will also work on the design of experiments for year 2 of Bear Project.

Bear meeting was held in Edinburgh on the 28th of June. We have discussed the current experiments as well as the future plans.
