MOTIVATION
Due to using technology incorrectly and its results as perception and brain laziness, we see serious problems in our students. They feel lack of motivation. Also Traditional education causes learning difficulties and Learning difficulties lead to early school leaving. According to the results of the surveys carried out at our school, 70% of our students are having difficulty in understanding lessons when presented by traditional ways, they easily get bored and their success level is decreasing.
Therefore, the teachers need to use new approaches to teach students and make students develop faster. ICT provides flexibility and availability of learning materials to all students. While all resources are available in classrooms, students can also access them outside schools. This especially benefits students who are slow learners or having learning disabilities. However, ICT can impact student learning when teachers are digitally literate and integrate it into curriculum.
At the international investigations, the anxiety about the students whose performances are low, in 2009, in the most part of the Europe, caused to adopt to a criterion referring to basic skills (Maths, English and ICT). By using IT, lessons will be taught via the ways the students like. Therefore we want to support the creative thinking and learning in teaching modules by applying complimentary areas of knowledge to subjects to establish further inspiration for a comprehensive learning.Higher education standards and student achievements are the result of current changes being introduced in schools.
Worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to an improved student learning and better teaching methods. A report made by the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan, proved that an increase in the use of ICT in education with integrating technology to the curriculum has a significant and positive impact on students' achievements. The students who are continuously exposed to technology through education has better 'knowledge', presentation skills, innovative capabilities, and are ready to take more efforts into learning as compared to their counterparts. ICTs have potential to accelerate, enrich and deepen skills,to motivate students, and strengthening teaching and helping schools change (Davidand Tearle,1999; Lemke and Coughlin,1998).
In this project we aim to create an authentic learning/teaching atmosphere for students, transfer and share experiences, get new ideas on using new innovative approaches, by collaborating with European Partners. In order to promote using ICT in education, we need a strategic partnership from different countries to implement strategies together, to strengthen the international dimension of education through good sample sharing with the best examples in Europe, to gain 21st century skills, to gain the vision of internationalization, active citizenship, professional skills and competences and the developmentof language proficiency.
OBJECTIVES
Our objective is to improve the performance and success of the students particularly those at risk of dropping out. Our students have problems with concentrating on lessons when they are taught by traditional ways. At the same time the teachers are having difficulty in teaching and making students understand the subjects clearly. Our project's aim is to make teaching and learning both effective and more efficient by using technological tools such as internet, computer, interactive boards, mobile phones, etc. Using ICT will help students learn the subject better, develop themselves and rise up their success level. We want to learn more innovative methods, techniques. We will cooperate with European partners and share experiences with each other. We will be able to see partners' education system, curriculum and compare it with ours.
Concrete Results:
-contribute to teachers' use of innovative teaching method in at least 20% of their lessons and to students' learning faster and more effectively.
-Increasing students motivation and performance in lessons. We aim to raise our students' success level of Maths, Science, English, Literature, Circular Economy lessons at least 10% in a year and 20% in two years,
-reducing drop outs to below 10%.
-Increasing the number of the students attending universities; our students' university entrance level will increase at least 10%.
While this project will enable our students to learn meaningfully, it will develop teachers' skill sets related to teaching methods and techniques and enable them to have rich teaching methods. This project will contribute to teachers' use of innovative teaching method in at least 20% of their lessons and to students' learning faster and more effectively. Internet sharing portal will be supported with presentations and videos. With interactive lesson presentations and solving problems, students will have fun while learning and share the solutions with the students in different countries.
ICT will support the communication intercultural and among societies. We aim to prepare project's e-book with lessons/ methodological approaches used throughout the project;as an example of good practices. The title of the book will be ' Innovation in Education' and each activity of the project will be added into it gradually.
In favour of this project, universality of numbers and solving problems will be common language of cultural interaction by using technology correctly, too. Support will be given to using ICT tools in maths, science, language, literature, etc. during teaching and learning process in order to catch the Europe standard. This project will help the development of cultural awareness and cultural interactions, European citizenship awareness, and respect to the variety of values and traditions.
