The Han research group is dedicated to advancing the development of synthetic methods, reagents, and catalytic principles aimed at achieving precision synthesis. Synthetic chemistry, distinguished among scientific disciplines for its ability to generate entirely new compounds, not only influences a broad spectrum of related fields but also serves as a powerful platform for exploration and discovery. In particular, we aim to establish the rational design and development of novel bioactive small molecule modalities that enable various catalytic transformations including photoredox chemistry, late-stage C-H functionalization and total synthesis. Investigation and understanding of reaction mechanisms will enable the design of such bioactive small molecules through novel synthetic pathways, relevant to the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries.
Research area: Organic Chemistry, Photoredox chemistry, Transition Metal Catalysis, Mechanistic Chemistry.
