At In Motion Studios, we are proud of our positive, respectful and supportive community. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all dancers, families and staff, we ask that everyone observe the following studio etiquette:
Respect & Behaviour
Students are expected to treat teachers, staff and fellow dancers with kindness and respect at all times.
Parents and guardians are to treat teachers, fellow families and students with kindness and respect at all times.
Encouraging language and positive behaviour are essential both inside and outside the studio.
Bullying, inappropriate language or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated in and out of the studio by any member of studio community.
Arrival & Pick-Up
Please arrive a few minutes prior to calss start times so classes can begin promptly and without disruption.
If you are running late or need to leave early we ask that you text 0412 366 538 to advsie of this in advance.
Students should be collected promptly at the end of class unless otherwise arranged.
There are times when our timetable may alter due to teacher absence, concert rehearsals or costuming. We will endevour to advise you of these times in advance and ask for your patience and consideration during these times.
Class Observation
To help students stay focused and independent, parents are asked not to enter classrooms unless invited by a teacher.
Observation weeks and designated viewing opportunities will be communicated throughout the year.
Beginner parents are welcome to stay in the waiting area to help with shoe changes and toileting. With all other age groups drop off and collect preferred as our waiting space is small and the noise carries into our studio spaces.
Photography & Videography
In line with our Child Safe Policies, photography and videography are not permitted within the studio or during classes unless expressly authorised by IMS.
This includes mobile phones, smart watches and other recording devices.
IMS will notify families when filming or photography is approved for official studio purposes.
Each family must complete the annual registration form which contains permission for teaching staff to take photos and videos of your child to share to our private and public socail media pages and groups.
Uniform & Presentation
Students must arrive dressed in the correct uniform with hair neatly secured in a bun or with braids with the ends neatly secured up in a bun or pinned to the head.
Very Short hair, well above the shoulder line can be tied in a half up half down style or utilise headbands to keep the hair well off the face.
Jewellery should not be worn unless approved for medical reasons.
All students should have a hair kit in their dance bag to keep hair neat and help with the last minute adjustments if you are coming in from school or other activities.
All uniform items must be labled, so lost items can be returned to the rightful owners. At the end of the year lost property will be thrown out, donated or placed in the second hand box.
Communication
Concerns or feedback should be directed to studio management via text or phone call. Sometimes a quick chat at drop off and collection is approriate as the teaching staff will allow a few minutes in between for the students to break for water and snacks but please note this is not always possible. It is always best to set a time to talk via text or phone call.
We kindly ask families to communicate respectfully and allow reasonable time for responses.
Our Parents Representative Committee will aid in the communication of all critical information, or you are able to access notices via our website and or Facebook pages.
Teaching staff will advise via text message when our heat policy is enacted or if you are required to collect your child early due to illness and other reasons.
Studio Care
Please help us keep our studio clean and welcoming by respecting facilities and personal belongings.
Food is not permitted in studios but snacks can be eaten in the waiting space in between classes, water bottles are encouraged to all classes especially during the warmer months.
By working together and modelling respectful behaviour, we create a positive environment where every dancer can feel safe, supported and confident to grow.

In Motion Studios manages classes during hot and extreme weather conditions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff.
IMS actively monitors weather conditions and studio environments. On warmer days, teachers may modify classes by reducing intensity, adjusting warm-ups and across-the-floor work, increasing rest and hydration breaks, and focusing on technique, musicality, theory, or choreography rather than stamina-based exercises. Studios will be ventilated with the roller door and back door open, where possible, and students must bring a clearly labelled water bottle to every class.
When the forecast temperature is 33°C or above, IMS may implement shortened or modified classes, particularly for younger age groups (3–7 years), where heat sensitivity is higher.
If the Studio temperature reaches 35°C or above, IMS reserves the right to cancel classes for the day or evening where conditions are deemed unsafe.
Any class changes or cancellations will be communicated via our usual IMS channels (text message, parent portal, and our closed group facebook pages, with notice provided as early as possible on the day.
Students who feel dizzy, unwell, or overheated should notify their teacher immediately. Families are encouraged to use their discretion on very hot days, and IMS supports parents who choose to keep their child home during extreme heat. Where classes are cancelled by IMS due to heat, make-up arrangements will be advised where possible. If a suitable make up class can not be taken due to scheduling a credit will be applied to your next termly invoice. The credits will be capped at 2 classes per term.
Dear IMS Families,
We wanted to share some very sad personal news with you. As many of you know, our family was expecting a new baby in the middle of this year. Sadly, we have experienced the heartbreaking loss of our baby.
This has been an incredibly difficult time for our family as we navigate our grief and support our children through theirs. I am taking some time away to process and heal, and we truly appreciate your patience, kindness and understanding in my absence.
IMS is such a special community to us. Your quiet support, compassion and care mean more than we can say. Thank you for holding space for our family during this time.
Warm regards,
Skye, Dave, Lainey & Teddy x
