PRESENTATION TITLE: REFLECTIONS ON HISTORY, INFORMATION DISORDERS, AND THE PHILIPPINE ELECTIONS
I discussed in this public lecture the importance of handling the terms referring to 'information disorders' (i.e. fake news, mis-, dis-, mal-information), and ways to detect them. But I assert that the social, ethical, and historical dimensions are just as important when we grapple with the consumption of false information in the pursuit of a more informed votership.

PRESENTATION TITLE: CHINESE FOOD CULTURE, AND THE CHINESE FILIPINO CONNECTIONS
While Chinese cuisine is already mainstream among Filipino consumers, there is still a need to acknowledge the intricacies of food, medicine, and culture in the Chinese context, as well as the multiplicity of what is referred to as "the Chinese palate." Afterward, a reflection on the Chinese Filipino cuisine and lifestyles brought about by the introduction and integration of Chinese food highlights the doorway for the two involved cultures to be more understanding and innovative as they tread forward.

In this discussion, I bring up both the natural and non-natural presuppositions about race and racial relations. I move forward by asserting that these presuppositions are foundations for humans to create constructs on race (i.e. Said's Orientalism, postcolonial perspectives, stereotypes and whitewashing), which breed a certain level of understanding and misunderstanding between groups. Ultimately, the lesson from the status quo of racism proceeds to taking advantage of current legislative agendas, expanding social media mobilization, and exploring reinventions of racial rhetoric--like unlearning hate.
