Gordon Hay: May 1, 1949-June 7, 2021
Gordon passed away peacefully with family by his side after a short but strong battle with cancer. His 72 years in this world were an example to all that met him of what it is to be a caring son, a loving sibling, a wonderful husband, an extraordinary father, and the best Poppa there could ever be. If you knew Gordon, he probably helped you and was never one to pass on lending a hand.
When you think of Gordon, you probably smile at the memories, whether it was his sense of humour or his love for life or others. Gordon was proud to serve the City of Nepean as a firefighter for 30 years. His work didn't stop when he retired, having been a carpenter for 42 years, Gordon was still going to job sites to lead many projects. He was always happy with a hammer in his hand.
Gordon will be greatly missed by many. He was the devoted husband and best friend of Arlene for 51 years. He was the loving father of Robert (Michelle) and Angela (Jason). He was the greatest Poppa to Emily (Jared), Jordan, Jessica, Spencer, and Tori. He will be missed by his brother and sisters, as well as their spouses, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.
He was quick to make friends with everyone and was loved by so many. We celebrate the fact that he is with his sweet Jesus, walking the streets of gold today. Until we meet again, you are in our hearts.

I will always remember how Uncle Gordon looked at Aunt Arlene. As a child of about 12, I remember thinking “So this is what love looks like”. The adoration in his eyes made such an impact on my young mind.
Guy and I offer condolences to Arlene, Robert and Angela and their families. Sending our love.

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr Hay. I have wonderful memories of being at the Hay home as a teenager and Mr Hay being outside with us usually trying to teach us how to cut wood or something else equally outdoorsy. He was a kind man with a great sense of humour. My sympathies are with the family.

I knew about Gordon when Robert married Michelle
Through Michelle and Robert (we are Michelle's Aunt and Uncle)
My memory was when he came to Bathurst, NB to take care of his three special jewels, Emily, Jordan and Jessica at the death of their other grandfather, John St.Laurent. A kind, gentle and caring man.
Our love and prayers are with you as you grieve. In the midst there is that assurance he is HOME with Jesus.

Gordon and James worked with us on various projects helping make our home our forever place. Through each project we enjoyed and cherished the stories, sense of humour and calm demeanour. He was kind and generous of spirit. We extend deepest sympathy to Arlene and family.

Many, many years
Arlene babysat my niece and nephew and that is how we got to know Gordie
We came to know Gordie and Arlene, through Arlene babysitting my niece and nephew . They attended many birthday parties and there was always laughs to be had. He was a very personable man and always had a smile.
He helped us out a few times with his faithful hammer - once being a repair job from a visiting racoon in the attic and a revamp of our bathrooms. Of course nothing ever goes as it should, and he ended up extending his visit to finish off the job. At the end he asked if he was charging too much. Heck no we said.
He will be forever missed, but the memories to be shared are numerous. Our condolences to Arlene and families. You are in our thoughts at this difficult time.
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Gord's passing. We did some business years ago but I got to know him better the first week of November every year for the last 25 or more. Always a gentleman and a good neighbour, he definitely will be missed. Rest In peace my friend.

Arlene and family so sad to hear of Gordies passing. Had the privilege of working with Gord at Bells Corners station . We used to study together in the afternoons on the four days. Gord taught me a lot about the Good Book, and in turn I gave him some knowledge of the bad book. I think that's why we got along so well. A very very intelligent man,
Rest In Peace my friend,
GerryA.

I wanted to let him (Robert) and all of you know I am standing beside you and your entire family at this time of sorrow for Arlene, Rob, and Angela. What are we supposed to do now? Gord was always the one we looked to for answers to any situation and problem that arose. He was that kind of a guy. A best friend. Someone you could talk to and he always understood and had advice that worked! He will be missed every day. Since 1977 or so I was always proud to call him my friend.

Gord was an awesome man and I will already remember him fondly. I loved his cheerful personality and his kind words. He always had great words of encouragement. I remember his patience when I put shingles on - a little crooked. Or when he helped me build my pergola on the back of our house.
A true class act and it saddens me that the world has lost such a great man.
You will always be remembered and cherished.
Much ❤️♥️
