Paola Barra, University of Naples Parthenope (Italy)

Paola Barra is a researcher at the Department of Science and Technology, "Parthenope" University of Naples. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2021 from the University of Salerno and her M.S. degree from the University of Pisa in "Computer Science for Economics and Business" on data analysis and big data in 2017. She has participated in several conferences (CVPR, ICIAP, CV-CMEM) and journals (e.g., IMAVIS, ESWA, SOCO, JAIHC, MTA, IEEE TIP, PRL). Her research interests include machine learning techniques for solving problems using computer vision, such as facial and gait recognition, action recognition, tumor detection, and image segmentation for garbage detection and fresco reconstruction. In addition, she is interested in natural language processing and human-computer interaction. She is also a member of GIRPR/IAPR and GRIN. Since 2018, she has been organizing seminars on the topics of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, first at the University of Salerno and then at the University of Naples "Parthenope," for the purpose of science popularization and to get students (and non-students) interested in this branch of computer science.

Teresa Onorati, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain)

Teresa Onorati is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where she received her PhD in Computer Science modeling the semantics of several knowledge domains for improving the accessibility of critical information. She holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from La Sapienza Università di Roma. As a member of the DEI Interactive Systems Research Group in UC3M, she is involved in several research projects about the role of technology for improving citizen collaboration and participation in critical situations. During a research stay at INRIA - Saclay center in Paris, she had the possibility to participate at a visual analytics project interacting with an ultra-wall display. Her research interests focus on semantic modeling, visual analytics, and information visualization for supporting a better understanding of how information and people’s sentiments propagate within a complex data ecosystem.
