"When black women win victories, it is a boost for virtually every segment of society."- Angela Davis
Co-Founder of In God's Hand, Shelisa knows that as a educator and single mother of five, "some need a little extra help to make it." On Thanksgiving she goes out with her family to hand out food and blankets to the homeless, and it is from this act of kindness that inspired her to start this organization. Born and raised in Saint Kitts, Island life taught her how a strong community conquer all, and it is that spirit she wants to bring Nashville.
Co-Founder of In God's Hand, Dymin studied political science at Tennessee State University. There under the motto of Think, Work, Serve, she joined Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and served Nashville, and work to create legislation that would benefit marginalized communities as the Commissioner of Minority Affairs for the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature. Now she is following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Warren F. Cannon, who helped create the Aurora Housing Authority which provides safe and affordable housing for the people of the City of Aurora.
Co-Founder of In God's Hand, Pittsburgh native, Kylia has been a leader from a young age. She was Vice President of the Keystone Club at the Boys and Girl Club of America, and Chairman of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature Black Caucus. As a black woman and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, she has seen how her community faces homelessness in disproportionate numbers. She is now fighting to reduce homelessness and insure no matter a person's race, gender, or sexual orientation they have access to housing.
We would love to have you on our team!
