Dear Esteemed Inglewood Teachers Association Members,
It's time to show the power of unity and Rally for Respect at the March 4 Board Meeting 4:30 pm. Thank you to all of the members who have responded, reported, demanded, and confronted issues and individuals who have stood in way of positive change. solidarity, ITA leadership asks you to organize and mobilize to make this an impactful event. Your presence and collective action will send a clear and undeniable message of strength and unity.
The District has exhausted all excuses regarding campus safety, and is raising complaints against us instead of our wages.
We can't accept the same projection of deficit spending as they pay for what they want while having us beg for what we need. We need our bargaining team to be confident in demanding the value and respect that must have.
Now is the time to remain strong, engaged, and unified. Our collective strength is our greatest leverage, and it is through solidarity that we will secure what we deserve. Together, we move forward focused, determined, and ready.
In unity and solidarity,
John Hughes
President Inglewood Teachers Association
We are sad to announce the passing of Lisa Menges District Nurse last week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and colleagues. She was part of our Oak Street family and will be sorely missed. We will forward any information regarding services once received.
...to the centralized information repository for all things related to the Inglewood Teachers Association (ITA); the union representing the proud teachers of the Inglewood Unified School District.
A Message from ITA President John Hughes
I would like to welcome everyone to our information centered, member empowered, result oriented, collaborative, professional organization. The Inglewood Teachers Association. I am truly honored to serve as the president of some of the most devoted, dedicated, caring, committed education professionals in existence. I hope to assist all members in the realization of their value and worth, in appreciating the magnitude of their contribution to the community and society by servicing students and families, and providing pathways to a fantastic future. Malcom X said “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” We are assisting in shaping our futures by helping students to achieve and to be their best. There is no nobler profession. Martin Luther King Jr. said “The function of education, therefore, is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically, intelligence plus character-that is the true goal of education.” We manifest this each day by modeling character for our students and colleagues. We by harnessing our talents, and uniting in a common mission, we can create the vision and achieve what we want while we build the capacity to achieve it. It’s going to require work on all of our part, but if we commit to each other and hold each other up, we will be unstoppable. I hope for the very best year for all of you. We are working for all members and our collective best interest. One aim, one union, one destiny-the best for us all.
In solidarity, John Hughes
