How will you be assessed?
Students are assessed in two components, each must show evidence of 4 assessment objectives.
In Component 1 (portfolio) students create a broad and varied collection of their own artwork using a wide range of materials and processes. Students develop responses to initial starting points, project themes or specified tasks and realise intentions informed by research and inspired by sources. The development and refinement of ideas and skills through meaningful engagement with selected resources. Evidence will be in form of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, mixed media and printing to name a few.
In Component 2 (externally set assignment) students respond to a starting point provided by AQA. This response provides evidence of the student’s ability to work independently within specified time constraints, realise intentions that are personal and meaningful.
The GCSE final mark is reached when the work from the 2 components is submitted and marked against AQA mark schemes, an external operation takes placed then marks converted to grades on results day.
In Component 1 and Component 2 students are required to evidence coverage of 4 assessment objectives, drawing and annotation, plus a selection of the below:

· 3D and sculpture
· Photography
· Textiles
· Mark making
· Mixed media
