Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) VERTEX 70v (Bruker) is a wide-range infrared spectrometer that can access the whole infrared spectral range from near-mid to far infrared (6000 cm-1 to 20 cm-1). There is no spectroscopic gap or mismatch due to the one wide-range beamsplitter. Hyperion 2000 is an infrared microscope integrated with VERTEX 70v.
Add-on: Broadband Polarimetric Infrared Microscope
Our lab developed a new polarimetric microscope that employs the double modulation technique; a slow spectral kHz modulation from FTIR and a fast polarimetric 50 kHz modulation from PEM. This technique is capable of simultaneously measuring both polarization rotation (which results from circular birefringence) and ellipticity (which results from circular dichroism) in real-time across a wide range of wavelengths from visible to deep mid-infrared light (25,000 cm-1 – 600 cm-1), with a sample size as small as 100 microns.
Magneto-optic cryogenic-free cryostat (Cryostation s50 with a magneto-optic module, Montana Instruments) is accessible to low temperatures (3.2 K - 350 K) and high magnetic fields (up to 1 T) and also has a microscope access through the top window.
